Terribly sad end for a hero dog that helped prevent death and injuries to our troops in Afghanistan. I keep thinking how tragic all the way around... especially if you had previously seen footage about Target (she was even featured on Oprah) when she arrived in the US. Her owner told of her loyalty and the injuries she had sustained while in Afghanistan. He mentioned they named her Target because it seemed like the Afghans had a "target" on her. How tragic she survived the war and died here.
This is typical of the Americans - sence none. Having lived in the US for 15 years and having attended a party once where the question of which industrialised country has the highest illiteracy rate in the world everyone agreed it was the US. Why we in the UK side with this country I have no idea. We are European not American.
This story breaks my heart! This wonderful dog should not have met this fate! I have found several dogs and have dealt with the frustration most of the time, that the dog did not have any tags. This I wish all dog owners would realize is so important for the dog. I however DO NOT trust any pound for Ihad the local pound euthanized my dog even though I called every day to make sure they knew I would be there to get him as soon as he was able to be released to me. Is the pound using this person as an escape goat, if not then that person should be terminated!!!

Dam. This is a sad mess. My heart goes out to this family.

How sad this could happen what are the chances same as this dog working in a war zone.
Seems a bit stupid and also sad that this happened, all dogs in war torn areas should be brought back and placed into caring happy homes.
