Why do we adore them?

Because all women want to be in Kate's shoes.
And all men want to be in William's shoes.

Do we adore them? I'm so busy trying to keep a roof over my head that I don't seem to have the time to energy to really care about the British royals, let alone adore them.

Too busy to give a damn. They have no place in my life. They have no effect on what I do so they have no relevance. This is a non-story. This is the media trying to get our minds off of what is really going on in the world. I want to know why I should care, someone please tell me.

Speaking for myself the only thing he has that I want is money, I would dread having to live under the microscope he does, where every move, no matter how insignificant, is scrutinized to death. Not my idea of fun. He can keep the limelight.

Women, absolutely yes they want to be in Kate's shoes. Why? because women love fairy tales, or at least what they think are fairy tales. It's women that are going to eat up the media blitz on this story. It's women that are going to scoop up the endless rags looking to make a killing on this 'story'. It's women that keep the gossip rags in business. Men couldn't care less.

I have adored William & Harry since I first saw them as babies. I also think Kate is a beautiful young lady.

I am happy for this young couple and I do look forward to hearing about their wedding plans and watching this wedding on TV. I wish them all the best as I do other young couples who want to start their lives together.

To those who do not wish to hear about or to watch this wedding...you have other options to choose from without seeing or hearing about it.

With unilateral divorce, in which one spouse can force the other into divorce without any justification or reason for the split, marriage doesn't really exist. The best thing for marriage would be to tighten up divorce laws.

Yeah I only clicked this article for the "what the hell???" factor in the headline. I don't know anyone who thinks marriage is "passé" or who adores Will & Kate. I didn't even know who those 2 were before this week. I thought it was really weird seeing some other headline stating they were using Princess Diana's ring.

Marriage should be a life binding agreement only made after each person has made sure they have finished their "fooling around" or single life. I personally think society should wait until they're near 30 before even thinking about it. Anyone in long term relationships or who has been divorced can tell you that you don't REALLY know a person for at least a year or 2 of being together anyway.

The numbers of people getting married right out of school then divorced shortly afterwards leaving kids with split parents is just diminishes the value for people around those cases a little more every time it happens.

First of all William is Princess Di's first born, why shouldn't he give her ring to his wife, and secondly they have been together for over 8 years (since college) and both of them at 28 years old. So your rant about being "close to 30" or together for more than two years is DUMB!!!

At first I thought it was a new TV series.

I am so glad I am not the only person that caught this. I came here only because of the ridiculous headline.

My view on marriage, been there done that there will not be a sequel.

Will & Kate, like they are close personal friends of us all. Why on earth would we care let alone "adore" this couple? Aside from the headlines about their engagement I haven't been in a discussion where these two were brought up. I would think that if the public adored them so we would all be talking about this every chance we got, right?

I am seriously considering dropping msnbc as a news source because these stories are just getting out of hand.

The goal was accomplished though, another BS headline on MSNBC to get the people that normally would not read the story to read the story. The problem, they shouldn't need smoke and mirrors to get people to read.

Same thing here. Thought, what another sit-com or reality show. Who cares about marriage? If folks want to marry they should and if not---not. Having never tried marriage---but not for wont of trying---can't say if I'd like it. Been involved with same person 25 years and she and I are both happy, why spoil a wonderful relationship with marriage.

Personally I think the fact that the head line read "Will and Kate" is rude....I'm not British so it really does not effect MY life but he is PRINCE WILLIAM and americans have been infatuated with him since the day he was born, our reporters need to have a little more respect!

I blame Hollywood for romanticizing the crap out of it. Oh look...a princess! Bah. Looks like a snobby elitist who still believes in "royal blood" and other crap like that to me. They can all stayin their castles & fly around on rugs while kissing frogs and eating cake all they want, just don't expect me to be impressed.

They do that for so many subjects. Even Hallmark cards always show these cute innocent looking angels. The Bible itself never mentions angels without words like "fear" or mentioning how ferocious and strong they are. The only "beauty" ever mentioned is the voices. Believing in them is another subject, I just bring it up as another "rewrite" of things for entertainment purposes.

I check most of the major media outlets. It's mostly the liberal leaning ones running these stories. There isn't a single story about it on the Fox News front page.

What is funny is that Fox News is running a story on the Democrat Senator that wants to shut down MSNBC and Fox News both and I don't even see it here.

I must agree with Christine-1902719; "we" don't "adore" Will & Kate as much as "you" would like to think "we" do.

They are an entertainment curiosity, and not much more. I've never paid attention to him at all and I'd never even heard of her before the grand announcement. So I'm not in a position to "adore" either one of them. But I hope they'll be happy.

Gee, how ironic the #s match up. In other words, around 40% rushed into marriage with someone before they knew what they were getting into. Bad choices in partners keeps leading geniouses to make statements like "all men|women suck". They never think that they're the common denominator in all those failed relationships. Blaming marriage for their misuse of it is just dumb. My parents have been happily married since '71.

At least it gets them to stop talking about O.J., Michael Jackson, Lindsay Lohan, & Tiger Woods for awhile.
