I'm very weary of these statistics. Do they have a turnstile, counting people off? How do they know that secondhand smoke, and second hand smoke only, is responsible. They don't.

Smokers will do and say anything to protect their addiction.

I'd be more interested in hearing about the stats on all the lives that are being placed on the conveyer belt of death every day by the constant spraying of all the chemtrails being discharged with increasing frequency. Nobody seems to want to look into that though. Maybe that's because everyone walks around with their head to the ground instead of looking skyward. Who knows?

my father smoked a pack of unfiltered lucky strike cigs every evening while we sit in front of him watching tv. im 65 and still alive an healthy.

well they started the study in 2004, and have decided 6 years is long enough to collect data on how people die, thats fine if you only live 4-5 years, but you need to track a person thier full life span and record everything they do and where they go and what other stuff they breath, just cause someone was exposed to second hand smoke at one point and then they die 70 years later due to failing health, yes it must of been that smoke they was exposed to and not the coal mine they worked in or the asbestos they worked with for 30 years..

sorry but ths study was done by a group that is against smokeing so of course thier findings will always be against smoking, and they even said it only accounts for 1% of all deaths in the world, so to me that is a very small drop in the bucket

WHEN are they going to start worrying about the one in 110 children being born with Austism.Why don't they spend the money on finding out what is going on with Autism instead of wasting money on things like second hand smoke. Start raising the voice about these autistic kids and find something to help them. When one in 110 people get sick from second hand smoke it would be an epidemic so why sweep autism under the rug. Do something about WHY there are so many children being born with autisum. And use the money to help the ones that are already autistic. What is going happen to these one out of 110 kids being born with it. Please people speak up about this and let's get some answers here. The statics show that one out of 90 boys are born with autism. It used to be one in ten thousand children has autisum so WHY is it getting so much worse. pLease do a survey on that.

Smoking was simply the first thing the goverment thought of to turn one against the other giving them full control. Divide and conquer.

The goverment has destorted how many die from auto emmission each year. A recent study shows that hospitals medically injure twenty six percent of their patients with six percent ending in death. The study showed one percent or fifteen thousand of those in the study had deaths in the hospital were preventable. This is statistical and not an arbitrary figure drawn from imagination and statistical manipulation.

I pass off many of the mistakes to best educated guess, yet most are due to an overworked staff. Would you accept 74 as a score for your daughters education? Then why do we accept it from her medical care providers? Second hand smoke is not the killer.. It is a cover up for negligence and big business.

Smoking topic is brought up too much.I for one tired of it...My house is smoke free and where I go when I am out is my choice...I guess it just doesn't be bother me enough to cry and complain.We all know it is bad,but too many more things too worry about.

 I would rather be around smokers than 1 drunk. Smoking is no more dangerous than a drunken driver,but yet people will contribute to a drinkers habit and think that IS ok.

Wow. Wow, this makes me laugh. Smoking has been demonized in this country. It is my right as an American to smoke as much as I want. Let me ask you something. When was the last time you heard of someones cigarette habit destroying their family? When was the last time you heard about a smoker who spent all his money on cigarettes? Or someone was so addicted they couldn't even afford to feed his family anymore?

He would steal money to buy his cigarettes, and became so addicted that if he went more than a few hours without one he would go into violent withdrawal. When was the last time you heard of someone smoking while driving and becoming so intoxicated that they crash their car and kill someone? When was the last you heard of a smoke becoming so intoxicated that they beat their wives in a blinded rage?

When was the last time you heard of a smoker having to go into severe withdrawals in a treatment center that the TAX PAYER has to pay for??? Well, when was the last time you have heard of any of this from smoking???? You know as well as I do that you haven't heard ANY of these things. Why? Because it does not exist for smoking, it exists for Alcohol.

Alcohol is so dangerous in this country that it kills more people directly and indirectly that cigarettes. Yet we criminalize and demonize smokers, and leave drinkers alone. Smokers are suddenly evil people, yet drinkers are OK. Drinkers kill others. They destroy families. They bring down entire families for god sakes. Not smokers. Yet you hypocrite morons attack me for working 10 hours a day and wanting to relax with a cigarette.

Your hypocrites, all of you. Next, I will make sure I get perfume banned from public places. I will make sure I get any fatty foods banned from all restaurants. I will make sure to ban all signs of religion, since it deeply offends me if I don't practice it. I will make sure I fight to ban dogs on public sidewalks, and loud music in cars.

All of these things affect my health, and I will fight to get it banned just like you fight to ban the one thing that relaxes me in this world. You all want to take away what you do not like. Children whose parents smoke in the home/car have nowhere to go. There is a very clear link between smoke exposure an childhood asthma. Not just tobacco, but wood stoves as well.

This study is skewed to provide the intended result - it is not good science. All of us over the age of 40 grew up around parents and adults who smoked - in the 70's more than 50% of Americans smoked. In my large schools, the only kid I knew that had asthma came from a family of non-smokers. No one suffered the ailments cited in this study, not as children nor as adults. What is different today is that most smokers are from poorer classes, who live in sub-standard, mildewy housing, polluted neighborhoods, poor access to fresh water and foods, poor access to healthcare. Could it be that there are other factors at play???

i know of no law that says you have to work or go to a place were there is tobaco smoke in use.

if anything its the ban smoke people who are pushing and forcing the way they want the world to be off on us.

i hate smoke. i dont smoke. it took my mom from me. but she did it of her own free will.

Where are the bodies? Show me one autopsy report that lists the cause of death as second hand smoke. This is junk, phony science. It's not even science, it's speculation and estimation, used for political purposes.
