Whew!!! Thank goodness the nation has big new Health Care legislation that will be taking care of all these costs!
That doesn't really kick in until 2014.
So what are the 9/11 responders supposed to do until then, lie down and die quietly?

The GOP is working in complete opposition to the interest and needs of the american people. They should be criminally charged.
Exactly what would that crime be? I believe that the Republicans have seen the errors of their ways in past mistakes. They are trying to do what is fiscally best for us and future generations. The Democrats are still trying to solve every social and personal ill by spending us to death.
Why couldn't these clinics be funded by part of the millions that was donated by the public? Why is it the responsibility of the Federal Government to fix every problem in the country?
Exactly what would that crime be?
Try endangering our national security for political power and gain by voting "NO" to the nuclear arms treaty. Colin Powell and the Generals making it clear that this is very dangerous for our country.
Try holding our country's progress hostage because the GOP vowed (from day one) to see Obama fail. NO to extending umemployment, NO to the middle class, NO to helping 9/11 victims.
Try voting no to healthcare reform knowing that 45,000 AMERICANS die each year from not having health care.
I could go on and on. If these are not crimes then the american people should see to it that they ARE and make sure no party can inflict this much damage to our great county ever again. HOLD THE GOP ACCOUNTABLE. THIS IS A CRIME AND A SHAME.

Wow - you so tactfully left out the nuclear arms treaty. This country is unsafe because the GOP voted NO yet again.
It's not just because they disagree on one issue. The GOP stated that they will vote no to EVERYTHING until the tax cuts for the RICH are passed. Its their motives. Holding this country hostage to make the rich richer should be a crime. This is not about agreeing or disagreeing. Its about the potential destructive consequences for our great nation.

BW - Should have included the Treaty in that also. The Republicans are holding off votes on everything else until the tax issue is resolved. I agree with that entirely. If they didn't the Dems would just kick the vote down the road and then claim the lack of an extension was the fault of the Repubs.
Why is it that it is OK to increase the taxes only on the wealthy? Why not all or none? I love hearing how the extension to the wealthy will cost $700B and that we can't afford that. How much is extending the the tax cut to everyone else going to cost? Several trillion dollars?? How can we afford that.
The progressive tax rate should be scrapped for a flat rate. Anything else is just a form of wealth redistribution. That is the ultimate crime. Stealing from the successful and giving it to others. Earn your own.
I tell you, these Republicans would have to move up in the world to be equal to Whale POOP. Just ask the people in Az who has been handed a death sentence how they like the Republicans.

I have posted this already here before You guys should stop complaining because, one the health care we have now isnt as good as it was supposed to be. also the law has just been signed so give it some time. so if u want to say u have the right to choose tell that to ur congress men or state official. all im gonna say is that if we as amaricans had a socialist health care we would be at the top of the world economy... but sadly most are aganst it. why are you? why is it good that a bum cant get medical care because they dont have income? why can the low class in our economy not get there children the basic shots they need? well with a socialist health care system thies people can. is that a bad thing? why can the middle class not afford to have more then 1 major medical bill before they loose everything they have? mabey you need to rethink your life...

The whole concept of insurance has always intrigued me. When you pay premiums in order to collect the value of lost property, you're betting you'll lose it. The insurer is betting you won't. Odds are calculated from experience to determine your premium.
Life and limb insurance is calculated again so that you're betting you'll die or lose a limb and the insurer is betting you won't...not for a while at least.
An insurance policy is between the insured and the insurer. The insured goes into the contract (hopefully) understanding that if he suffers loss the insurer will cover that loss.
The government is not and should not be in the insurance business. The police, firemen, and rescue people take those jobs knowing there are risks, possible extreme risks in some cases. They and civilian volunteers who enter burning buildings hurriedly to perform an altruistic task usually don't stop to investigate the potential hazards they might encounter immediately nor in the long term. As cold as it might sound, neither the government nor its involuntary sponsors (the taxpayers) have a financial obligation to them. What transpires between them and the survivors they rescue and the families of victims they tried to save is between those parties and any charitable folks who wish to contribute.
Death, pain, and incapacitation are part of life. No one escapes death. Our culture makes it a tragic occurrence whether one dies old or young. Pain and incapacitation are a craps shoot. We experience varying degrees of the former rich or poor and can only pray to avoid the latter. But when they're part of our daily lives, it is what it is. No one owes us for our costs as we attempt to evade our deterioration or avoid being unable to function as we desire.
There never should have been a "middle man" between the patient and doctor. I'm old enough to remember when a doctor's visit didn't mean going into debt nor upsetting the monthly budget for a working man and his family. There was never a legitimate reason for that to change. First the insurance industry screwed the patient, then it screwed hospitals and clinics, and more recently doctors and health care professionals. The best thing that could happen for us all is the end of insurance.
In our harsh world, the government is supposed to bring stability and reason. Also the health care problems is not that the insurance industry played fair, they put in holes and clauses that prevented the insured from being able to collect if something tragic happened. Rather than end insurance permanently it seems wise to take it, break it down and rebuild it.
whats so damn hard about helping those who helped others in a time of need?? congress helped the banks and car dealers and we didnt see any of that money or what they did with it... so now its time to help the ones who need help...
why just stop at 58,000 help them all, anybody who lost a loved one should get something for there sacrifice

Well, all of you who think this ridiculous Obama Healthcare plan is good, please tell us all the things in this bill that have NOTHING to do with your health. YOU Can't because you do not KNOW, do you? Maybe you should actually find out everything in this monstrosity? Get someone who really knows what all is in it, then come back and tell us all about it. Just about everything this president has told you is just Another Big LIE! It is going to cost the government more money than you could even guess and also, your health should be more important to you than what you are being told.
We none don't know what the future holds you take one day at the time. You learn to live with what ever you have.
I believe in helping Americans, If I was in those towers when they exploded, I would hope the brave men and women, the first responders on ground zero would do for me, what they did for many others. You ask why is the Federal government responsible? Because that is one of the services I expect to receive from my government which I help fund through taxes. Republican or Democrat we are Americans first.
