On the contrary! Dr. Vreeman seems to be an excellent doctor that understands her patient and evaluates him correctly. I'm comforted to know that Santa is doing well and should be arriving at my chimney every year for years to come.

I love Christmas and I don't think it's helpful for children to be concerned that poor Santa Claus is too fat and might have health problems. My family will be sticking with the classic Santa stories this year, and we left him plenty of cookies. So to all those quick to judge me as a Scrooge... Yeah, Merry Christmas to you too.

While this is a great story, I believe the author may have seen the video produced by UNC Healthcare about Santa's fitness and getting ready to ride. This video was aired last year and was back by demand this year... so perhaps this was not an original idea by the author.
Who cares? At least one doctor/hospital/etc does this every year, so UNC wasn't very original, either.
Oh wow. Such a lot of grinches here! I read it and thought it was a lovely lighthearted article that I would be able to share with my children and not 'spoil the surprise'. Hmm. I made Santa a pound cake spiked w/dark chocolate chips and strawberries; more chocolate and berries, less cake; green tea. Perhaps it was a hint that he could slim down a bit--extra weight at his age is hard on the heart, could lead to diabetes 2, and other woes.
