On the contrary! Dr. Vreeman seems to be an excellent doctor that understands her patient and evaluates him correctly. I'm comforted to know that Santa is doing well and should be arriving at my chimney every year for years to come.
I love Christmas and I don't think it's helpful for children to be concerned that poor Santa Claus is too fat and might have health problems. My family will be sticking with the classic Santa stories this year, and we left him plenty of cookies. So to all those quick to judge me as a Scrooge... Yeah, Merry Christmas to you too.
Jennifer-2835243 I doubt kids read the articles on MSNBC and if they did then they are old enough to recognize satire. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Jennifer, you let your Santa believing kids read MSNBC? :0 ??? You were probably pretty stressed when you wrote your reply, huh. Don't worry about it. Have a nice weekend!
Can you imagine how many calories are burned slipping up and down chimneys and carrying that huge sack with hundreds of millions of toys in it? I'll bet Santa just fattens up for Christmas eve and is down to a healthy weight by Christmas morning.
While this is a great story, I believe the author may have seen the video produced by UNC Healthcare about Santa's fitness and getting ready to ride. This video was aired last year and was back by demand this year... so perhaps this was not an original idea by the author.
Oh wow. Such a lot of grinches here! I read it and thought it was a lovely lighthearted article that I would be able to share with my children and not 'spoil the surprise'. We all see nothing wrong with a presidential physical checkup...why not Santa! Come on Jennifer...do you read the funnies and moan about people wasting their time drawing cartoon dogs?
Oh...and if anyone has a link to the psych check on Darth Vadar, I would love to read that too!
Santa is happy and productive, and that's what will keep him healthy and alive. Jennifer, here's a virtual hug and cookie, and we wish you a very Merry Christmas. Here's to being more positive for the New Year and not sweating the small stuff. Merry Christmas to all.
Hi everyone and merry christmas and happy new year. Im sure santa will be fine. He's just really stressed out. Just like everybody over the holiday's . When this is all over he'll go home and take a holiday rest till next year. So kid's all over don't worry about him mrs clause will take care of him when His flight is over. every body at msnbc have a nice holiday.

shame on msnbc.com...this is irrelevent and pretty much a waste of space. Why?!! I feel sorry, and pity the author of this article, be it on his own creation, or his editor's, this is a space waster....no reason for this type of article...except to create "issues", and to take up space...alas...editors are not getting smarter, but just greedier!!!
Good grief Mike -- lighten up! Not every article has to be gloom, doom, idiot politicians or "relevant". It's Christmas -- it's fun -- quit being such a mean one Mr. Grinch!
Hmm. I made Santa a pound cake spiked w/dark chocolate chips and strawberries; more chocolate and berries, less cake; green tea. Perhaps it was a hint that he could slim down a bit--extra weight at his age is hard on the heart, could lead to diabetes 2, and other woes.

This is completely ridiculous. Way to over analyze a myth! This must be written by the same people who tried to do a psych eval on Darth Vader.
Actually -- I think your response is a bit ridiculous. This is just a writer having a bit of light hearted fun. Get over it and Merry Christmas!
On the contrary! Dr. Vreeman seems to be an excellent doctor that understands her patient and evaluates him correctly. I'm comforted to know that Santa is doing well and should be arriving at my chimney every year for years to come.
To you Jennifer, bah humbug!
Happy New Year to you, too, Jennifer.

A bad Santa is a skinny Santa!

The flushing is from the whiskey he's been given everywhere but in the US.
Who says he doesn't get whiskey in the U.S.?
Santa has a nice scotch drink at my house.
I keep a hot toddie on stand by for St. Nick especially for miserable weather like tonight.
With so many mommies kissing Santa Claus, I think STDs have been dismissed too quickly.

Kind of like hibernation! LOL He needs all that energy to burn in his travels.
Nothing like throwing a little negative energy, front and center, into the Christmas spirit. Nice going MSNBC!
Lighten up!
How is it negative? The doctor's verdict is that Santa is healthy and ready to travel.
A Baby Doctor (Pediatrician) diagnosing a very old man she never met? She apparently does not want anyone at Indiana University to take her seriously.
You need to lighten up, too!
msnbc-troll
Vreeman needs to get a life or get out of the bush every once in a while.
Jennifer must have been a bad girl this year and she's not getting anything for christmas. Oh well Jenny, maybe next year...

Who cares? At least one doctor/hospital/etc does this every year, so UNC wasn't very original, either.

I can understand the fun in this article, but I don’t think the writer needed to add the word Obese to describe Santa JMPO.
Anyway have a good X-Mass mates and a fun New Year.
He may have Rosacea? Come on the guy is in the COLD flying around, there's no friggin Rosacea.
ย Well apperantly poor Jennifer needs to pull the mistletoe out of her butt!. Its just a story meant to be fun and light.
and I thought this was about a down economy.
2010 Christmas Shows Global Economic Contrasts
The Christmas Holiday is gaining popularity in many countries, even those with few Christians, The holiday also offers a stark contrast of economies with Chinese spending more and most Westerners being very austere this holiday season. http://www.newslook.com/videos/278055-2010-christmas-shows-global-economic-contrasts?autoplay=true
Most likely he drinks too much Vodka.
And uses GPS to navigate.
Rudolphs red nose is just a "running" light.
I wonder how the Christmas Eve storm back east is going to effect his travels due to reduced visibility?
At least it isn't an ice storm.
Not a problem -- Rudolf was on the job -- just ask NORAD!

Coal for everyone... NO more Gas Left!!! Coal is Cheaper then Gifts... Ho Ho Ho!!!
St. Nick is apparently immortal. So, if he does get sick he just recovers. No biggie. Merry Christmas!
'Zactly. Silly humans. Santa is an elf!
