I dread this Scott decision because it may set a horrific precedent. Now, other inmates can "voluntarily" offer to donate various organs in exchange for a release from prison. This particular case is unique, and since everyone is sort of in general agreement, it will be a nominal win-win deal. But, at deeper and more complex levels, it stinks of racism, political wheeling and dealing, and places human organs, not only out in the marketplace, but also into the equation where legal ethics and jurisprudence are at their most philosophical core. It reaches almost to the biblical level of King Solomon’s decision about which of two women should receive a baby claimed by both. This is a tough call, and there is no clear answer
The folks who feel pity for these two creatures, need to wake up. They argue, "It was only $11 dollars. Probably because that is all the victim had to their poor soul. Do you idoits think if the victim had $5K, they would of only taken $11 dollars? Really? How kind of them. That is not what this is about. This poor victim will have to live with this for the rest of their life. Ask any psychologist. They probably have nightmares and suffer from anxiety. Getting beat with a shotgun and the threat of getting shot and killed is a tramatic event. I think if this is allowed, this will set a path for other prisoners to try and work the system more than it already is being worked, resulting in more tax payer money. And why should we, you and I pay for this trash receiving $200K in medical treatment annually? It is absurd. I'd rather see the $200/yr go to the victim for therapy and a better life. God knows, if all they had was $11, they could use it.
