The Egyptian authorities are doing the right thing by trying to prevent further unprovoked violence. But I hope the authorities responsible for the increased security included extra protection for themselves, because these extremists also lash out at those who try to impede their madness.

I am also pleased to see the citizens publicly demonstrating against the violence.
