I think there might be something to this article. Everytime my stomach is upset or I think I have IBS, I go run and the symptoms seem to go away. I also take anti acid every night for a while until the symptoms go away. IBS can also be reflux, taking acid reducers for a few day usually take care of reflux, but you also have to avoid foods that cause acid reflux for a couple of day.
My father, who turned 92 last year, suffered from IBS for 25-30 years, with multiple GI series & good doctors. Last fall, on a visit, I eliminaated all fructose, lactose & other sugars and carbs from his diet. He ate eggs, cheese, chichken, sausage and burgers (without buns). His IBS resolved in 3 days.
I later read a recent article that said that 40% of IBS sufferers were helped substantially by eliminating sugars (the "--oses") from their diets.
We did not evolve as a species, eating sugar after we were weaned. This came in about 1700, with the commercial production of sugar cane. Many of us do not tolerate sugar in our diets.
Got irritating gut problems? Get on your treadmill, crank it up to whatever is okay for you and walk 4 to 5 mins. Rest 3 or 4 mins if you need to. Continue this until you,ve been on that sucker for 20 mins. Do this twice a day about 2 hours after eating. Soon you,ll feel much better. I know. I like to watch the calories I burn. Kinda makes me feel like I kicked ass.
