I know he is the hero of the right, but did you ever watch the man? It was apparent to me that there was obviously a problem. I'm not talking about politics. He wasn't the brightest crayon in the box to begin with, but his speech, his mannerisms, his napping during meetings. It was obvious to me there was something wrong with him at the time. Never understood why he was lionized. I guess if you totally agreed with his world view you could overlook it. Personally I think it is better for his legacy to think that he had these issues than that he was just a dim bulb. Personally, I think it was a combination of the two.
Don't mean to be mean spirited but I was always mystified by his appeal. He was known as the "great communicator". I thought he was the worst I have ever seen, and I go back to Eisenhower. It was the one area where I thought GW Bush did rival him.
Duh.....anyone with half a brain could have told us this at the time it was happening. But America cannot deal with the truth, especially when it has to do with its supposed heroes. Just look at the many ways we seek to hide from public view our physically and mentally challenged citizens while in other countries they are given every opportunity to lead a useful and productive life. Another form of institutionalized paranoia in our country.
Reagan is by far the best President of The United States I've known in my lifetime. Nothing anyone can say will ever sway my opinion of this man nor his wife Nancy.
I think that, no matter what, his son would've been far better off keeping his mouth shut.
Unbelievable that he would speak about this now. Nancy Reagan herself released a statement after her husband's death clearly indicating that he had battled Alzheimers for 10 years (Reagan was 93 at the time of his passing) and it is conceivable that he was battling the disease long before that, but that it went undiagnosed because so little of the illness was known at the time.
For his son to do this kind of disservice to his own father is appalling to me.
Ronald Reagan had a reason for not remembering details from the Iran-Contra scandal. Bill Clinton had trouble remembering details with Monica... but he was lying. Each president who tries to pull that "clueless" act loses my respect.
I've always thought Ron Reagan was a smart man. I enjoyed his talk shows. I'd buy his book, but not because of the obvious revelation that Ronald Reagan had Alzheimer's during his presidency.
I was old enough to remember Ronald Regan's speeches. They were uplifting, and heartfelt. For a man of his age, it was truly amazing to hear him speak. He inspired more people than you can imagine.
You underestimate this President because it is politically fashionable to do so. I think you need to go back and review some his his speeches and you will see what qualities this great leader had, regardless of your political bias. Unfortunately, his son did not inherit his father skills and is a complete bore.
I was 24 when he was elected the first time. Back then, I just voted and forgot. Now I check and I am glad. I am tired of electing people who get sucked in by the status quo in DC.

Seriously, I don't get it either. He was a Great Communicator to whom? The same people who love George W. Bush, I guess.

I am more interested in knowing why his liberal political son released his opinion about his conservative father's health.
Well that explains "trickle-down" economics, an economic plan that did more to hasten the division of wealth in this country than anything.
he must've...
The son is an idiot promoting a book. He'll say anything to get more copies of this trash sold.
Exactly !
Why would anyone want to buy his book?

Did anyone seriously think he DIDN'T already have Alzheimer's when he was President?
