"Nearly 30 years later, a group of lawmakers stumbled upon the remains while touring the hospital and vowed to improve mental health treatment." What kind of a bull@!$%# story is this? I really hope this is just the AP's poor writing and reporting. Nobody noticed anything wrong with the facility before this? Nobody? Really? The same facility where "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" was filmed? But no one present or past that worked there ever noticed 3500 cremated remains and said anything about it?
Lawmakers to the rescue! What a f'ing crock. Scumbag politicians.
Better late than never. It's sad, but some things just get stored away, and no one remembers or cares to remember. However, it's a correct kind of ending. Things are being put right. May all the souls of these lost (now found) remains be put to rest.
Yet in the same breath, another article talks about all the cuts in mental health care. It would be nice if states were funding new hospitals, but they're usually not, they're getting their funding chopped. Shortsighted, while the rich get richer. It will only get worse with the GOP 2012 budget soon to come out. I have bipolar which is a progressive disease. Its not going to get better. My family can only deal with me on a superficial level and they can't deal much at all with my schizophrenic sister. We need the assistance only the government can give us, but instead, they keep cutting and cutting, with big cuts planned for this year. They're even taking my housing, so I'll be out on the street in the near future. Sure won't be sitting at an old computer making comments.

This is so heart wrenching for me personally. I wish it could have been better. I think, just as the moon, people will wax and wan along until we die.

As a bipolar person - this gives me chills!
