I am very glad that researchers are finally looking into why allergy rates have gone up. I have long suspected this link because I know that asthma rates are generally higher in areas with industrial fumes. I have looked into how asthma and allergies work but have found the medical text to be lacking. Our ancestors have been around mold, pollen, dander, grass, and other natural things for ages that I find it hard to believe why our bodies would reject it violently today. The "pollen" watch on TV seems ridiculous to me. Either something is in the air, in our bodies, or on/in the plant pollen that is eliciting these selectively unnatural behavior. Our species should not have made it this far if our ancestors lost the ability to hunt for food during high allergen counts.
One of these days, we're going to have to pay for all the compounded safe dosages of microwaves going through us every moment of every day, but that is another matter for another time.
Since I work in the sciences field also, I must now include this disclaimer: The views expressed above are only my own personal opinion and not that of whoever I am working for.
I think you are on to something re: the Microwave and other muli-spectral RF radiation we are assaulting ourselves with on a 24/7 basis. It cannot be a good thing!
The surest way to get brain cancer is to work for the federal government at the Nuclear Test Site in Nevada -- my father developed a glioblastoma shortly after he began working there, after he was exposed to massive amounts of radiation, and the government told him the radiation exposure was harmless.
Obviously the antihistamines are effecting this some how. And Lycurgus is right, allergies seem to be getting worse. Probably from antihistamine over use. We just don't know. I myself didn't start with my allergies until after I quit smoking cigarettes at 37 years old. So now I have a less chance of having brain cancer, but with the other article on here I will be mentally ill from smoking pot.
I agree with your stop smoking / increased allergy connection! I quit smoking a year ago at age 38, and my allergies, which were always very minor, have exploded over the past year, absolutely brutal since I stopped smoking. There has to be some correlation...
I use "123 Get Samples" to find free samples of major brands online. Please note they update their samples every day but I just pick what ever available at that time and use them.
It would make sense that the body's rejection of irritants through sneezing and "runny noses", pustules and the like would indicate a self-protective response. Just one less thing for the body to assimilate.
Strange-I was clobbered by allergies as a child and for many years after. It was not until the allergies had subsided that I was felled by a malignant glioma at the age of 38. I never took prescription medicines for the allergies and only occasionally relieved myself with an OTC when the sneezing and itching would become unbearable. I try to let my body heal itself naturally as much as possible and always have. Hate(ed) giving any of my money to the already rich pharmaceutical industry. So this morning you might imagine my surprise and confusion at this initial study. ??
That works well for my family and I then. We all have bad allergies.

Finally, an upside! LOL!
I won't die from cancer, then.

Is the "glass" here really "half full"?
