Again, just one of those "studies" that they really don't know what the outcome would have been had things been switched up. I don't know how long I was breastfed for but I have never had a seizure in my life...would it be different if I would have been breastfed for a shorter amount of time? We don't know. I could just be healthy and breastfeeding could have nothing to do with it.
I think they just want to put something on here about breastfeeding. Apparently for some strange reason, it's a controversial subject. What I just can't get is: why would it be so controversial?
No one is sure we should be allowed to have them...and if we are, should we be allowed to keep them? And if we can keep them, can we show them? And if we can show them - to whom? And for how much? And for how long?
Boobies are crazy-scandalous!!! =D
....in reality...western culture has so overly sexualized the breasts that it makes people uncomfortable to think about them and babies in the same thought.
Who are these wierdos who don't like boobies? What is wrong with them?
I'm sure you're right, But, but, but.... that's dumb. Babies like boobies - and they are good for them and vice versa (not only are boobies good for babies, but babies are also good for your boobies).
I am waiting for something to happen to my boobs so I can breastfeed. I thought something weird was supposed to happen by now, but they're pretty much the same boobs I've always had!
Sometimes your boobs get bigger while you're pregnant, but before I had kids I had very small boobs so there wasn't a noticeable difference until after the birth. When your baby is born, it is good to let him suck on them right away because there is colostrum before there is milk which is very good for him (your milk will come in sometime during the first week) and also because it stimulates hormones that will help your uterus go back to normal after being stretched out (that is actually very important - I don't know what happens to your uterus if you don't nurse your baby, but it doesn't seem like it would be good). The more they suck on them the more milk you will make. You'll be surprised at what happens to your boobs when your milk comes in it will look like you got a boob job.

I agree! I read about that and I thought - ah, so that is how you get your belly flat again, eventually!! Luckily, my OBGYN is big about breastfeeding and we'll get to try it out as soon as the guy arrives!
Smart girl. But of course you are. You're going to love being a mom.
Did I tell you I just had a grand-daughter? I just changed my avatar to one of the pics of me and my daughter and her baby, but you can't see her baby cuz the avatar box is too small. Well, you can see my baby - she's on the right, thats me on the left.
I did not breast feed any of my children and I guess its just amazing that all of them made it into adulthood without ever having seizures, ear infections, mental illness, food or any other allergies or medical problems or weight problems. They all went to college on academic scholarships and turned out to be productive members of society. Go figure.
You're right, my last comment was pretty stupid. Obviously how well you care for yourself over the years has way more to do with your condition than what you do for 6 months or a year or so after you give birth. The same is true about the health of your children.
My mind went straight there because since my daughter just had my granddaughter 9 weeks ago and she is just now getting back her nice flat well defined abs (no "pooch" -way faster than she would if she weren't breastfeeding). I would also have to agree with you that breastfeeding isn't magic, and making exaggerated claims doesn't help credibility. But it is cheaper, easier, helps the mother's recovery from childbirth, lowers your risk of breast and uterine cancer, and makes a big difference in your baby's health WHILE you are doing it (I'm skeptical myself about the claims of "lifelong" benefits).
There are definitely some benefits and I think a lot of young women really aren't aware of all of them, but perhaps because of the exaggeration of articles like this one(and I just got caught up in it too), they dismiss them as BS. How do you think would be the best way to honestly and respectfully make young women aware of the benefits so that they could make a more informed choice? Obviously what they do now not only fails to inform, but puts people on the defensive. That is counterproductive.

Because boobies are controversial.

When are you having your baby?
May! =) He is due the 14th.

That is precious!!! Everyone around me is having girls. My boy is going to have his pick of the litter!
;)
Oh my goodness, I have stepped into boobland and I don't know how to get out. HELP!!! LOL
I for one fully support breasts. I literally do. I like to hold them. LOL
Hell, if that ain't chivalry - I don't know what is!
Well, I like to do my part for womankind. ;)

and how are your abs?
As darn close to a six pack as a 50 year old can have. Breast feeding has nothing to do with your abs. Sit-up and Pilates 4x a week do.

Seriously, I'd like to know your opinion on this.
