Tipical Alabama fan. Probably never even went to college, but such a rabid fan that they will do most anything in the name of college football. Why would any decent law abiding person want to do something so totally ridiculous as to kill trees to protest another school from winning a football game. Guessing the man that did this had a first name of "Bubba".
No, you cannot condemn a whole group of people because of the acts of a few. I know Auburn fans that would also stoop that low. Its a shame this happened and its a shame their are fans on both sides that would stoop to this level. Hope the fans wanting to retaliate will think twice and show some class.
Im an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan, and have been my whole life. But this act shames me and my fellow Tide fans (im sure). If this act was motivated by his dislike for Auburn University in our Age old rivalry, then I hope he gets his just reward through the judicial process. I wouldnt want a retaliation of sorts by an Auburn rival in Tuscaloosa. My condolences to Auburn.
What was he really mad about? Was his problem solved by killing 130-year-old trees? He should be in an institution for the rest of his life. This time it was trees. Human beings next time?
I listened to his 'confession' on the radio show and his reasoning was based on antics done by Auburn fans to Bear Bryant's statue. But those pranks were, while disrespectful, certainly repairable. You can remove paint, etc.
His actions took life and beauty away...from students, faculty, fans, anyone that happened to walk thru that area.
I'm not a fan of either school, living in Fort Worth, TX, home of #2 TCU. But I really feel bad for Auburn. That's a loss that's hard to take.
I wouldn't say this guy is tipical or typical anything. He's completely out of the ordinary in terms of fans (Alabama, Auburn or any other school) or just humans in general. This is the guy that, if you scratched his car in the parking lot, he'd beat your five year old daughter, then run and hide.
I really hope he gets a chance to tell his story to some cellmates in prison. I'll bet they take a 'liking' to him. Those guys are fans too.
I grew up in Auburn, about three blocks from Toomer's corner. I wept when I heard the news. I have many fond memories of running up the street to roll those old oaks after an Auburn win (which in those days were too few and far between) and sipping Toomer's corner fresh, ice cold limeade in their shade. Shame on this insane person who would kill these majestic living oaks, all in the name of a football rivalry. Let's hope Auburn pride and spirit let the law take its course and not retaliate. War Eagle.
what a bunch of fools, blaming stupidity on being from a region. Being an idiot is not endemic to the south. After all, southerners are not stupid enough to leave the freezing cold.
That's funny. I live in Indiana and after the mammoth ice storm recently I looked across the street at my neighbor and said, "You know, we could move."
Not a Auburn fan but they need to hang him from one of the trees while it can still hold him up !! For someone to poison something just because they can in my book, he has no consideration for life therefore, I would have no sorry for him !!
Heard the replay of this guy calling in to brag about it - it was to get back for someone putting a Cam Newton jersey on a statue of Bear Bryant. He was quite proud of himself and said he "didn't give a damn" that it was illegal. I'm guessing he gives a damn about it now.
Look I went to Kansas and from time to time K-State fans would paint a statue on campus purple and guess what - that's part of the deal - it's part of the fun - no real harm done. This is just the work of a very disturbed person.
If ever there was an individual deserving of corporal punishment, Al, is that man. Apart from giving him a custodial sentence for committing this heinous crime, he should also be made to climb the oldest of those old oak trees and be made to cut a sturdy branch that would be used to tan his..... ass.

Typical not Tipical there Jimmy. You sure can open a big door for A rival fan! Thanks but in this circumstance, i'll decline the slaughter. :-D
a rival not A rival I'll not i'll
That's not criminal mischief; it's murder. Kill him.
That's a bit far out isn't it? He poisoned a tree so let's him?
What a world... After a 130 years of surviving mother nature to be taken out by one man... Very sad, very sad...
What is wrong with people these days?
What was he really mad about? Was his problem solved by killing 130-year-old trees? He should be in an institution for the rest of his life. This time it was trees. Human beings next time?
After given a fair trial in one of our kangaroo courts, he needs to be gutted and ground up to make tree fertilizer.

THIS is ridiculous. The tree never did anything to him.
Would be nice if the trees from Harry Potter could come and take care of him!
As Uncle Fester would say, "SHOOT HIM IN THE BACK!"

Grits
Nah, he was going to blame it on "Climate Change"

this guy is a piece of @!$%# they should make him swallow the herbicide.
He should go to jail for the ten yrs i hope they throw the book at him.
Are these trees doomed or is an effort being made to save them? What a waste.

why?
ridiculous.... some people have no life at all

disgraceful and deserving of 10 years imprisonment with hard labour .
