Concierge or not, doctors who are licensed by the government should not have the option of refusing government funded insurance. It is an outrage.

One can understand how it has come to this, doctors are pushed to such extremes in the number of patients they see, they can hardly do a competent job.

We need a true overhaul of our healthcare system now. Pharmaceutical and insurance companies should not be running the industry. It should not have any for profit component. The old "money for research" hack doesn't cut it anymore. It is all about profit in the pockets of big corporations.

Just the same as what happens in Great Britain.

It appears that the doctors are cutting out the middlemen with this concept. That is their choice in a free market economy. Patients are always free to exercise their own choice as well.

Medicare and other insurance aren't covering the costs to run a practice. Many primary care docs are going broke or making so little it's not worth their time and is burning them out. Something's got to give and just like you would look for something that would let you sleep at night they do the same thing. They run a small business and must make a profit.
