These worsening statistics on the mortality rates of Black obstetric patients are the key sign of a growing public health disaster. They demonstrate that despite our magnificient technology, the quality of health care throughout our nation is deteriorating. And we definitely, statistically rank among the least healthy people within the industrialized world.
We need more comparison studies. How do Black teen pregnancy rates compare with teen pregnancy rates among other ethnic groups in America? Do Black patients have equal information and access to prenatal care early in pregnancy? Do Black literacy rates differ from the literacy rates among other American groups? How does the the socio-economic status of Black obstetric patients compare to the economic status in other American groups? Do Black families have equal access to employment? To nutrition programs? To sanitary housing?

Obesity is like a plague in this country, so is our downward spiraling educational system. Without self discipline there is no discipline in the class room or anywhere else. Do tell where do you think that is that learned?
Why doesn't Tyler Perry do a movie about this?
