Bush swore that the Iraqis would pay us back for our military intervention with oil or revenues from oil. Cheney was quite happy to accept the benefits of no bid contracts to Haliburton. But, in fact, both Bush and Cheney helped sell the war in Iraq with promises of cheaper oil and gasoline.

Cheney was supposed to have divested himself of all interests in Haliburton when he decided to run for VP. He never divested, he put his Haliburton stock in a "blind trust", a semantic loophole created by congress that allowed him to keep the stock and benefit from all dividends, splits and increases in value, all events that he could guarantee himself by assuring no bid multi-billion dollar contracts. I do believe that is criminal.

As for the oil; remember that Bush borrowed the price of both the Iraq war and the Afghan war from China. Bush then reneged on his "promise" to the American people, one he never intended to keep under any circumstances, and the "government" he installed in Iraq is selling most of their oil to, you guessed it, China. I have no doubt that this was the collateral Bush promised to the Chinese in order for them to finance the whole Iraq/Afghan fiasco. "Mission Accomplished", indeed!
