Thank you to all who are doing this. Animals are always the forgotten victims so it's nice to know that someone is looking out for them and trying to help.
My heart goes out to those precious souls working as they are to save people's devoted pets. I am sure the animals are petrified and lost at the magnitude of change due to the tornado. Poor things I hope that people are reunited with their beloved pets or they are adopted soon.
The people who do this work of finding strays in decimated areas are angels to the dogs and cats and other pets. Re-uniting them with their owners--then they are angels to the people as well.
I hope you find all the lost pets and they're reunited with their owners! Thanks for rescuing the "forgotten" victims of any disaster. I'm always pissed at the media for not mentioning the animals who lost their lives in a disaster! They're not "stuff" that was damaged or lost, they're members of the families too!
Thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who work so hard to save pets and other animals in the aftermath of these natural disasters. My heart goes out to the all the people who have suffered so much. To be reunited with a beloved pet that can give and receive love can be a tremendous comfort.
That is so sad. I am so glad for all of those wonderful volunteers who have worked hard to save so many of the frightened animals and reunite them with their owners.
Please remember to donate to the Human Society whatever you can give. Even if it is $5 it all adds up to help these poor animals who have gone through so much. God Bless the volunteers .
all of you big hearted animal rescuers just got a hug and a kiss from me------i have rescued animals and i know the look in their eyes when you rescue them. they are so relieved and grateful---bless you good folks---
Thank You for being there for the most helpless of all beings. Your services to these animals are much appreciated. It makes me smile inside to know there are kind human beings such as you. Thank You ...
I can never read stories like this without getting teary eyed. Thank goodness there are people helping reunite lost animals with their owners. The animals are probably more excited than the people!
Pets come in all guises. Tarantulas rarely bite, especially if they are used to being someone's pet. Dogs, cats, all terrified animals will react in this kind of stress. And love is love, no matter who or what.
A special thank you to all who are helping in the discovery of these terrified animals. If you can't get to a humane society to help; go to your local petsmart (petco does this too) at your nearby mall and give a donation to homeless animals.
It breaks your heart to see all these poor pets and their loving owners affected by these terrible storms. God Bless all of you who are able to help them. A prayer to St. Francis for these lost animals that he keep them safe until they are rescued.
Thanks for printing this story. I ran a tornado drive for my school district. We have six buildings. Each building had a theme. We had five of our buildings collect items for people and one building collect items for pets. Some balked at the idea, but I explained about the need. Many really didn't think about it. We ended up filling a huge truck. I'm printing this out now and will post it in the office tomorrow.
You now see the difference , and similarities between our disaster and Japan's. We both search for our pets out of love and respect for life, but there has been almost NO looting in Japan. And the animals don't loot. ....................................
Farmkid1, not in my house! My pets are my family, not just some disposable thing that means nothing. If someone comes into my house and steals something, oh well I'll get over it. But come into my home and hurt my animals, I will hunt you down and will not hesitate to kill you.

Mahalo and God Bless all of you giving your time to help bring these pets back to their owners.

Tina: Thanks for the reminder! I meant to send a donation a week ago and forgot (shame on me!)!
Thank you SO much to rescuers of these precious angels! Don't give up until you've found every last soul!
