Just wondering: The article said Ebola came from improperly cooked monkey meat. Is this the only source? Also, does it occur at particular times of the year? I don't know. It's a dreadful disease, and it seems that nothing has been found to stop it. I sincerely hope this outbreak ends with this one, sad victim.
The only reason Ebola has not run rampant worldwide is that it's very short lived and usually doesn't make it out of a country's rural interior to any transportation center from where it can spread. But 45 miles from a capital city...with an airport? Oh boy... This is not good at all...
It is definitely something very scary. I read somewhere that the Spanish flu during the WWI era was not actually a flu but a plague, not unlike Ebola in its deadliness. It spread so quickly and was so fatal that it wiped out a great many people in just a few hours after exposure. In this day and age of fast travel, Ebola could be another far-reaching plague upon humanity.
I have read a book on "hot viruses" that stated that Ebola appeared to spread not only via the water supply but also by air (of course neither was actually proven scientifically in said book which was written by scientists). I'm guessing that this is without a doubt a bioterrorism weapon.
If Ebola could have become the next great plague, it would have already. That is not to say it couldn't mutate and become much more dangerous, just that it hasn't.
Bestiality, not just eating monkeys, is associated with original AIDS outbreak as well as the Ebola outbreaks. This is accepted behavior in Africa. The disease will cure itself if left alone.

Up to 90% mortality rate. It's coming, the only question is how lucky we get in containing it.

Not again. May God help Africa as that country has suffered immeasurably for so many years.
Outbreak...
