Why would we consider forcing the extinction of one form of life while striving to protect all others? Just cause we don't like this one doesn't mean it doesn't deserve to live. By killing it, you are reducing the biodiversity of the planet. It should not be allowed. The endangered species act should protect this virus. And yes, I consider a virus a form of life even though some people don't.

Why waste a perfectly good Biological Weapon? Keep it on the shelf for another 200 years and use it on all those "Unholy" heathens you Christians are so scared of.

I think that these should not be destroyed, but treated as a valuable resource. There may come a day in the future when a new disease threatens humanity and we need this virus to use as a model and synthesize a cure. I would hate to see humanity suffer because they destroyed these vials with the arrogance that we had eradicated the disease, and assumed all versions of it into the future. Someday, we may be very happy to have not destroyed these!

We would consider it because it it extremely dangerous and has killed countless numbers of humans throughout the centuries.
