They are concerned that they will be cutting into Mexico's profits.
George Washington and Thomas Jefferson both grew hemp. Ben Franklin owned a mill that made hemp paper. Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence on hemp paper.
Arizona hates the founding fathers because they are illegal immigrants, but they sure love to trample your freedom, kill jobs, and tax revenue with big Government.
If you look at the lawsuit it basically is calling the Administration and the DOJ out.
They are telling the Fed that you can't pick and choose which laws you will uphold and which ones you won't.
The Fed sued Arizona over the anti-illegal employment law and lost just a couple of days ago. The feds argument. Federal law preempts state law.
The fed sued Arizona over SB 1070. Fed argument is that only they control immigration laws.
Now Arizona is just giving them a dose of their own medicine with the same argument. Arizona's argument If the fed preempts state law then why hasn't the fed sued the states that legalized medical marijuana?
You can't say you are all controlling and come down hard in one area while not doing the same in other areas that you claim to control.
Personally I think MJ should be legalized but Obama and Holder are going to have to reverse argue on this issue and it won't look good, no matter how they do it, to the millions of voters that approved these laws in over 20 states.
During WW II, the government paid American farmers to grow hemp for manufacturing rope, thereby freeing nylon rope for naval and other military purposes.
You do realize what they are suing over is the fact that isnt not legal as far as the feds are concerned it doesnt matter if you state says it is or not.
What they want is a clear answer as the feds have already stated they dont plan to but they could come in and arrest people under federal drug laws.
This isnt the first time either medical growers in montana i think it was already have a suit against the feds who raided them and arrested them even though their state has medical laws.
Ollie - get real. DOJ simply says "Oh, it's Arizona - sue". 21 states have a medical marijuana policy and Arizona gets selected for harassment. Makes sense to me.
What's that old saying - you can fix ignorance but you can't fix stupid? They have their opinions also whether they agree with mine or not. Obviously Weld doesn't agree.
good...DEA judge already ruled that marijuana didn't meet the schedule I criteria for drugs over twenty years ago...but the head of the DEA at the time overruled him, cuz you know how it is with the good ol boys, and the DC court of appeals agreed with the head in '94, just cuz they could. 'bout time something happens...this time, they're losing...too many people know...the internet age is going to bring them down...just too many people know nowadays, it'll never be like it was back in the days when it was easier to sweep sh*t under the rug...can't fool all of the people at the same time, right?

Is This What Arizona Republicans Mean ...
by cost-efficient government?
During WW II, the government paid American farmers to grow hemp for manufacturing rope, thereby freeing nylon rope for naval and other military purposes.
It's pretty cool just simply smoke it.
