Stress can manifest in many other different ways as well. I believe it can lead to IBS, hives, rashes, muscle spasms, nervous twitches, OCD, nerve problems, panic attacks, depression, mood swings, etc., you name it.
I agree completely. and I have most of those problems when I work with a certain boss at work. Other days, when she is not there, nobody is worried about getting fired, and its fine. but when she walks in, we all start having diarrhea, OCD, nervous tics, muscle spasms, and panic attacks. Hm, sounds like I should get a different job.
You know you are stressed out when: You worry about credit card debt but you do not have good credit only debit cards, but banks still try to trick you into signing up for overdraft so they can charge you with more “gotchas” overdrafts. Worry about paying your mortgage or rent but oh I forgot I have been homeless living in my vehicle the last 9 years. You cannot relax because you know the economy will get worse before it gets better, government always bailout the rich not the small guy at the bottom. Federal government keeps denying the “d” word, yet they still have done nothing to create a Federal “jobs” program, but was that not the reason the last guy got elected? Seems the only change we got was stuff that does not affect all the unemployed ex-middle class homeless people. Wonder were the jobs will come from when our national suicidal trade policy promotes more job growth in Foreign countries than it does here in the USA. The fastest growing institutions in the USA now are national “Food Banks” because the only growth industry in the USA is homeless people. Look for relief and compassion at my local church, but they have their own problems and few understand mine. Most of them still have jobs, homes and families. Try to save money on fuel since it was a dollar less a year ago, but riding a bike, wears you out when you do not always get enough protein or fat in your diet. Things like extra mayo and creamy sauces on your food are hard to come by at homeless dinners. Driving less is cheaper but I still struggle with how to pay for maint. repair, registration, lic, insurance with little or no income. MY hair color changes 2 shades but I do not dye my hair until I realize… oh yeah age discrimination when looking for a job. Do not use cellphone too much because monthly contracts are too costly, and prepaid is much better…but I have to change my message to don’t bother me unless you are offering me a job, because bill collectors never quit calling. Am I missing something here? I thought stress was supposed to be a temporary emotional state not a lifetime lifestyle. Oh sorry don’t mean to confuse you with the facts. It gets even better, more fellow Americans will join me in the coming years if our government continues to ignore the job issue and cater only to the needs of the multinational corporations and ultra-rich. They supposedly have higher profits than ever but do not want to hire. Have a clue why I picked my title from one of Peter Sellers last movies?(Hoffman). Never thought my life’s work would add up to a movie-punch line.
You have GOT IT. I am with you all the way. Sounds just like my life. Only mine's worse, I just won't go into detail. And now I take all kind of pills to de-stress andit's making things even worse.
And then when (or if) the economy gets better and we get on some sort of a balanced life, we'll sit around and worry about the other shoe dropping, and something terrible happening. So the stress will continue.
I vomit and still gain weight. My hair is falling out of my head and starting to grow on my face and other weird areas and Im female. I have a rash on my feet and inner arms. I take a dozen pills a day to survive. I'm 48 and I have surprised myself that I have live 2 years longer than I expected. I work in the finanace industry and the Canadian Corporation I work for doesn't give a rats asp about its employees. Sell Sell Sell... fee income fee income fee income... don't tell me to get another job. I need the health insurance to keep me alive. Heh.
Does Henry Paulson want people to feel sorry for him because of his 'suffering' during the meltdown? Consider the trillions of dollars that have been lost because he and his Wall Street buddies drove the economy into a ditch with all of their gaming? Consider all of the heart attacks, broken marriages, sleepless nights, foreclosed houses, lost jobs, etc, that were caused by the meltdown? I doubt they care.
To imply that anxiety related throwing up and CVS are the same thing or that CVS can be cured if we practice walking meditation is B.S.!!! My daughter has had CVS her entire life. She started cycling at 4.5 weeks old and every 7 weeks since then she has cycled.Without taking a medicine to abort the epicode (like zofran) she will throw up uncontrollably until she is dehydrated or taken to the hospital and sedated. Episodes are now a little lees intense thanks to the migraine meds she takes, combined with zofran and fluids we can avoid the hospital most cycles. The author of this article really needs to do her research before she publishes something like this. Children like my daughter have a hard enough time answering questions about their condition without having someone tell them that it is not a big deal and if they'd relax or meditate it would all go away! Here is a good article on what CVS is in case the author would like to read it!
One of my dogs is trying to convince me, he is god......Am i stressed out????

Puppy love?
Well, you said "you name it". :-)

I think that for me the best way to relieve stress is to pray.
Sounds like being pregnant.
Sorry for double post.
I thought I was fine until I read this article. Now, I'm stressed out.

At least if you vomit when you are stressed out, you would lose weight!! But no, I get the hair and memory loss!!
I'm a comfort eater. So no, stress doesns't make me lose weight.

They missed
- Excessive drinking (like a couple bottles a day at the office)
- Sucking your thumb until the nail and some of the skin comes off
- A beer can collection that FILLs and entire room of your house, not the wall, but the entire room
And of course the most obvious sign of being too stressed out....
- Showing up to work wearing camouflage pajama jeans with a rifle over each shoulder and a pistol on each hip.
Paulson should be stressed out - he orchestrated the looting of the national treasury.
Stress manifests itself in numerous ways, and there can be numerous reasons behind stress.
It seems some become addicted to a certain level of stress, and, work hard to maintain it.
