#1the smoke from 'Mary Jane, the Cannabis, the Muai Wowi, the Yukon Gold, Thai Bud, BC, legalize the green' is much more harmful to the small cells in your lungs than tobacco smoke:
#2- pot hasn't really been ALL natural since the 1970's (while not cooked in a lab, the cross-pollination of many of these has created varieties the tobacco companies are envious of - THC has quadrupled in many, and this eventually will lead to addiction);
#3- this article was about cigarettes, not pot: stay on point.
no dano get a life...im talking bout real plant substance thats good...you dont like it..too damn bad...3 people thumbed me up on here..you are the one who has something negative to say.and you dont know a damn thing about Marijuana..go smoke 3 packs of cigarettes...
Isn't this article just confirming the common knowledge that cigarettes act as an appetite suppressant?
I quit smoking a few years back and did put on 10-15 stubborn pounds but that may be due to the fact that I replaced my cigarette addiction with an oreo addiction! Once I quit the oreo's my body went back to it's original state thankfully.
Waxx - I'm with you on legalizing marijuana or at minimum decriminalizing the possession of it. It works great on anxiety and the anxiety level in this country is unbelievable . . . we need to slow down a little and what's better for that?
Thank you mutt yes we need a whole new agenda on the War on Marijuana because its nothing but a B.S. war...i have never tried any drugs but fine, ive tried the Natural Plant Marijuana and yes ive smoked ciggarettes and yes ive had more than my share of beers and alcohol..and i know that Marijuana is the best choice, and they have never had a case or where someone died or overdosed off of marijuana...and my parents in their 60's and 70'sdo not like it when i drink or even smoke cigarettes my father smoked kook cigarettes for 45 years..hes 73 looks good and great..thanks to genes....but he doesnt like me smoking cigarettes...i do enjoy Marijuana every day and i know it should be legal...i am not with any hard drugs..crack, cocaine, heroin, meth, just the natural Plant marijuana..it just feels and seems so God sent...its been through civilizations through human history, every continent....
I disagree that quitters only gain about ten pounds. I gained 30 and have never been able to lose the weight even after 11 years. It is not an excuse to smoke but every ex smoker that I know has gained more then 10 pounds.
"I gained 30 and have never been able to lose the weight even after 11 years."
Losing weight can be as hard, if not harder, than giving up cigarettes. A trainer once told me (when I complained about not being able to lose weight) that "It's all about input vs output." I dismissed her comment as a sort of smart ass dig since she was ultra fit. Eventually however, I came to understand that she was exactly right. If a person ingests fewer calories than they burn, they will lose weight, no question about it. If not, they won't. It's that simple.
Yeah, I never had a weight problem until I tried to quit both cocaine and smoking cigarettes at the age of 40. In just the first 8 months after quitting cocaine I shot right up by 45 lbs, and three years later when I quit my pack-a-day cigarette addiction, I shot right up by another 50 lbs. I went from the build of a quarterback to the build of a lineman in just 3 & 1/2 years.
So far, since then, the only diet that has helped me at all has been a rigorous adherence to the Atkins Diet, and when I can't take it any longer, the weight just immediately piles right back on. I weighed 235 lbs at age 40, the same weight that I had weighed at age 23, and by age 44 I weighed 330 lbs, and every Thanksgiving and Christmas since then I gain another 15-20 lbs which takes the entire rest of the year to lose.
I work-out every other day and I have to walk more than 2 city blocks from where I park to my office each way too. Nothing seems to help. I have cut back on my eating by 2/3rds and carefully watch what I eat, to no avail. It is pretty discouraging to think that quitting was just about the worst thing that I could have done.
So my advice if you are thinking of trying to quit is that you had better really carefully monitor your food and alcohol intake since the rapid metabolism that you once had is going to slow way down when you quit smoking, especially after the age of 40 or so. No more fast food, no more junk food, no more dessert. Cut way back on red meat, bread and pasta too. Eat vegetables sparingly, and try to avoid carrots and other high-sugar vegetables, no potatoes or beans either, and no milk or other dairy products, no soda pop either. Diet green tea, vegetables, an occasional ribeye or strip steak to go with fish or shrimp and occasional chicken or other poultry. Try to eat all-natural, and get plenty of exercise too.
Otherwise, you and the Goodyear Blimp may have a lot in-common.
TAlk to your doctor---Korean Ginsing is a metabolic booster---so is Alpha lipoeic acid (an antioxident) and it is highlky recommended for diabetics (type 2) because it helps the body utilize insulin. Once again talk to your Dr.
I smoked and lost weight when I quit. I realize that is not normal but it does happen. I drank lots of water too.

I quit 6 years ago. Gained almost 30 pounds in the first year. If it wasn't for the emphysema, copd, and other health problems caused by smoking, I'd start again just to lose the weight.
I gained weight when I quit smoking in 1985, 26 years ago. That spurred me to begin exercising, a pursuit which has become an addiction in it's own way. I'm not as light as I was when I was smoking, but I'm more muscular.
I'm 58 now, 5' 11" and around 170 lbs. Ride my bike around 20 miles, 4 days a week, and lift weights 3 days a week.
At least that's my schedule. Weather and life often trim that a little bit.

I quit and over 13 years gained 30 pounds, but I'll take the weight gain over the tobacco addiction any day.
Other weight gain factors:
"I gained 30 and have never been able to lose the weight even after 11 years."

i have read that nicotene actually burns calories. most people i know who quit smoking gained up to 50 lbs.
Gaining weight is good, and as long as it is not obese.
But it not going to gain "cancer cell" inside lungs.
Exercise, hydration, and balanced diet are going to help to prevent excess gaining weight.
Meth is a pretty fast way to lose those extra pounds.
