How much money did they spend on this study!? I think it's a crock of sh*t....get happy....I know a woman who is 94 years old and had no job....limited family....has been miserable all her life...and she is 94! Please people spend money on real studies...not this stuff!
Don't fill your shorts this is a British study so it wasn't our tax dollars paying for it.
I'm thinking there may be some truth it. On the other hand, at least the miserable old woman you know obviously has friends to listen to her complaints, which is something all people want, to be listened to.
Oh okay. Forget all the reality in this screwed up world and maddening mess our government is making for our lives. Forget inflation, unemployment, foreign interventions all over the planet, the health care debacle, the illegal alien debacle, .....and primarily the debt clock ticking like a time bomb. ...Just be happy, party on, who cares huh? Be an ostrich and shove your head in the sand. Eating spam and BB&J sandwiches.... hmmmm life is good. :)
The most contented/happy... show me happy people! Where are they? In this economy there are a lot of unhappy people- now they have this to add to their long list of worries!
see, its simple. patients just need "interventions" to bolster positive psychological states. let's see, if I am depressed because I've been unemployed for 5 years, then, the doctor just has to "intervene" and get me a well-paying and meaningful job.Tom Ulcak man, where do these researchers live? how can they be so isolated from the reality that the rest of us live in? that's like telling the widow at the funeral to "give us a big smile, you'll feel better"
or could it be that happier people also are more educated, sucessfull??? perhaps their lifestyle and eating habbits promote heart health.
these "surveys" are often full of holes and lead to wrong conclusions.
Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Tommorow you are not here, have lost the desire, or just plain old can't anymore. The best advice I ever got from an old man was to do it while you are young, kid-- and to take care of your teeth. In other words sacrificing the present for a potential cozy retirement sucks as a plan. Life just passes you by and you can't retire anyway because the best laid plans of mice and men etc etc
I have always thought that the French paradox had an explanation other than, or in addition to, the chemicals in the red wine they drink. I think the less stressful life style, helped along by the alcohol of course, is as big a factor.
A few years ago there was a song called "Don't Worry, Be Happy" In today's fiscal and political reality that is about all there is to do. Or watch the closing scene of "Hunt fo Red October" and take note.

MSNBC recently reported that laughing can kill you in a "Body Odd" article on June 24.
Which is it?

Nah, its a healthy dose of sarcasm that gives you longevity. And a good sense of humor. Dour people do die young -- or might as well
