Can't you just enjoy a medical breakthrough, cornmeal, without having to start talking about health care? Just because this didn't happen in the U.S. doesn't mean it couldn't possibly have happened here. A majority (or, at the very least, a large plurality) of medical breakthroughs happen here, and it is the common Joe, the common you or the common I, who get to enjoy them. Even those advances that are initiated in other countries are often perfected stateside. For example, the first partial face transplant occurred in France, but the procedure was extended into full face largely here in the U.S., and more and more complex procedures have been performed since, with better and better results. I'm sure you've heard about the latest full-face transplant that was all over the news just a couple of months ago. The results were fantastic. The man was given a second shot at living like a normal person. And no, it wasn't a rich person by any means. It was electrician Dallas Wiens, from Fort Worth.

And yes, Sweden may have a wonderful health care system, but for example, in terms of cancer survival rates, it comes a distant second to the U.S. I don't mean to say that our system is flawless, but your criticism and your sarcasm have been targeted at the wrong people. The people in charge of our care are doing a hell of a job. It is our coverage and insurance that fail. It is not funny or stupid to say that the U.S. is home of the best (yes, best, not "best" with quotes) care.

There have been no cures or treatments developed from embryonic stem cells, I defy you to produce documented evidence to the contrary. Adult stem cells however, have been used to successfully treat cancer, leukemia, used in bone marrow transplants, treated auto immune deceases, stop corneal degeneration, restore heart function, etc.

Educate yourself and then maybe you won't make idiotic comments.

O, and I forgot to mention, this story was also about "adult" stem cells.

I'm going to go ahead and blame Bush with his stem cell ban. Which by the way restricted adult stem cell research as well.

And yes adult stem cells have had tremendous results in clinical trials here and in Europe. I owned stocks in several companies involved, and still do. It has huge potential once the treatments are allowed on humans.

People should do some searching online about it. They've cured leukemia in a few people with adult stem cell transplants. Mass producing stem cells and transplanting them into the bone marrow.

Synthetic is usually used in the sense of synthesis, the combination of two or more parts, whether by design or by natural processes. Furthermore, it may imply being prepared or made artificially, in contrast to naturally.

clinical trials???? What does that prove? Come back when there is a documented cure from those trials. Of course they are going to keep trying, the pro abortion people demand it. But my point still stands. There are no results from embryonic after all these years, but many proven from adult. Where would any thinking person not blinded by the pro abortion liars and greedy murderers, put their time and efforts? Sure as hell not in embryonic research. If is was any other thing funding for the research would have dried up years ago with such a consistent failure to produce anything.

It's not just that. Most of the politicians have money tied up in pharmaceuticals. It is more profitable to treat a disease than to cure a disease.
