And it was not even in the United States. The United States is the home of the "best" medical care with the world's high prices for those than can afford it.
Can't you just enjoy a medical breakthrough, cornmeal, without having to start talking about health care? Just because this didn't happen in the U.S. doesn't mean it couldn't possibly have happened here. A majority (or, at the very least, a large plurality) of medical breakthroughs happen here, and it is the common Joe, the common you or the common I, who get to enjoy them. Even those advances that are initiated in other countries are often perfected stateside. For example, the first partial face transplant occurred in France, but the procedure was extended into full face largely here in the U.S., and more and more complex procedures have been performed since, with better and better results. I'm sure you've heard about the latest full-face transplant that was all over the news just a couple of months ago. The results were fantastic. The man was given a second shot at living like a normal person. And no, it wasn't a rich person by any means. It was electrician Dallas Wiens, from Fort Worth.
And yes, Sweden may have a wonderful health care system, but for example, in terms of cancer survival rates, it comes a distant second to the U.S. I don't mean to say that our system is flawless, but your criticism and your sarcasm have been targeted at the wrong people. The people in charge of our care are doing a hell of a job. It is our coverage and insurance that fail. It is not funny or stupid to say that the U.S. is home of the best (yes, best, not "best" with quotes) care.
There have been no cures or treatments developed from embryonic stem cells, I defy you to produce documented evidence to the contrary. Adult stem cells however, have been used to successfully treat cancer, leukemia, used in bone marrow transplants, treated auto immune deceases, stop corneal degeneration, restore heart function, etc.
Educate yourself and then maybe you won't make idiotic comments.
I'm going to go ahead and blame Bush with his stem cell ban. Which by the way restricted adult stem cell research as well.
And yes adult stem cells have had tremendous results in clinical trials here and in Europe. I owned stocks in several companies involved, and still do. It has huge potential once the treatments are allowed on humans.
People should do some searching online about it. They've cured leukemia in a few people with adult stem cell transplants. Mass producing stem cells and transplanting them into the bone marrow.
Gee, you think the FDA will ever let us have it?
In california it's legal to get stem cell treatment for race horses. You or I can't though...
@MSNBCLIES who says: "Educate yourself and then maybe you won't make idiotic comments."
And perhaps you should learn some manners and just stick to the facts in your posts, then you won't be so rude and disliked and people might actually pay more attention to what you have to say.
The first paragraph of your post made your point in a courteous way but your last sentence made it rude and insulting for no purpose.
Idiotic is an appropriate description of the people who run around bemoaning the past ban on embryonic stem cell research, since it has produced nothing. They think they are fighting for some great cause, but it is a lie. They belive like blind sheep the lies of the press and the pro-abortion crowd. That is idiotic. Sorry you can't handle the truth.
Calm down, MSNBCLIES. He just said "stem cell" not embryonic stem cells. You have a lot of anger. Calling people "idiotic", no matter how justified you think it is, is not rational and is not going to gain you any followers. I see your point, but you ruin it with your language and delivery.
Nor do they understand the diff between embryonic and adult stem cells. It is amazing how stupid people follow the lies of the media and the pro abortion camp about stem cells. Liars, frauds and murders.
Synthetic is usually used in the sense of synthesis, the combination of two or more parts, whether by design or by natural processes. Furthermore, it may imply being prepared or made artificially, in contrast to naturally.
You clearly do not understand how to use a dictionary.
I think this type of surgical medicine purely facinating! However, a lot of people get cancer of the throat from smoking. Stop Smoking people. It's not worth it.
@MSNBCLIES, perhaps you should educate yourself and revise your comment to say..
"As of now there have been no FDA approved for use cures or treatments developed from embryonic stem cells, although the FDA has approved phase 1 clinical trials on GRNOPC1, a treatment for spinal cord injuries developed off of ESC.
The way you formed your comment discredits yourself and makes you sound like a idiot.
clinical trials???? What does that prove? Come back when there is a documented cure from those trials. Of course they are going to keep trying, the pro abortion people demand it. But my point still stands. There are no results from embryonic after all these years, but many proven from adult. Where would any thinking person not blinded by the pro abortion liars and greedy murderers, put their time and efforts? Sure as hell not in embryonic research. If is was any other thing funding for the research would have dried up years ago with such a consistent failure to produce anything.
While Europeans are busy making advances in medicine, we are sliding back to the stone age medicine because conservatives do not want stem cell research. Medicine has become suspect in American society... Stem cell researchers are being looked at with scorn....
Good job Europe...keep it up, for Humanity's sake! We are no longer the great Nation we used to be, just a bunch of neocon idiots...a Nation full of over-opinionated non educated prosecutors intent on creating generations of witch doctors (status quo)
Wow, talk about an amazing breakthrough in medicine!
And it was not even in the United States. The United States is the home of the "best" medical care with the world's high prices for those than can afford it.

Wait until Obama-care starts. The US will attract the world's worst doctors.
Well it is incredible I still am disappointed on how far the goal post has been set due to bans on embryonic stem cell research in the US.

O, and I forgot to mention, this story was also about "adult" stem cells.
That's why it's advancing quicker in Europe.
I'm going to go ahead and blame Bush with his stem cell ban. Which by the way restricted adult stem cell research as well.

Yeah, stem cell research is evil. Idiot pols.
No, it would appear that you are the idiot for believing the lies about the supposed value of embryonic stems cells.
Calm down, MSNBCLIES. He just said "stem cell" not embryonic stem cells. You have a lot of anger. Calling people "idiotic", no matter how justified you think it is, is not rational and is not going to gain you any followers. I see your point, but you ruin it with your language and delivery.
You clearly do not understand the definition of synthetic.

What is "it"?
@MSNBCLIES, perhaps you should educate yourself and revise your comment to say..

It's not just that. Most of the politicians have money tied up in pharmaceuticals. It is more profitable to treat a disease than to cure a disease.
