Do you want to fight obesity, Uncle Sam? Do you want to look in the mirror, Uncle Sam?
We live in a nation where about 60% of people are either overweight or obese. Government employees are worse, about 80% of government employees are overweight or obese and so listening to Uncle Sam saying "you people are too fat!" is really the pot calling the kettle black.
If the American people are overfed, then perhaps it's time to get a handle on the Federal, State and Local programs which duplicate efforts to feed kids. For example, WIC (Women, Infants and Children) seems harmless enough, after all people are getting fed!
Yet then there's the AFDC (Aid to Families with Dependent Children) which are food stamps. This seems harmless enough, feeding the kids, but then the kids were already fed once. Now they're fed twice.
If that's not enough to see that the kiddies get some eats, we also have the School Lunch Program, which is a third way to make sure that the kiddies are getting all of their nutrition at least three ways a day.
Then, after Uncle Sam has paid for kids to gorge themselves three ways a day, they scratch their heads and blame the soda companies for kids getting fat? They buy the kids three lunches a day, and it's PEPSI making the kids fatsos?
I've got a radical idea... how about there be ONE PROGRAM to feed kids and ONE PROGRAM ALONE? No triplicated effort, and no passing the buck to Pepsi or Starbucks or Burger King.
If the incompetent Federales would stop trying to solve hunger by throwing billions of dollars at fat kids to pay for their obviously generous feeding troughs, then maybe they'd stop causing the problem of making the nation fat!!
Look in the mirror, Uncle Sam. You're the problem!!
