Umm, what article did you read? I think this one said that a private firm was gaming the system; the FDA did what it was supposed to do - inspect said firm, found what was occuring, and has made those findings public. Fines, penalties, potential closure, and additional investigation will follow.
This is not an isolated incidence. The only reason they are saying anything now is because the company obviously has refused something the FDA wants......most likely money.
The FDA has a HORRID record for protecting 'we the people', but their record for protecting big pharma and Monsanto profits is 2nd to NONE. Although, in all fairness, the FDA is run by Monsanto so that only figures.
They are too busy going after RAW milk farmers at gunpoint, raiding CSA and organic food co-ops while passing big pharma drugs that kill hundreds of thousands of people KNOWING they will.
This agency is about as worthless as a snooze button on a smoke alarm, but far more dangerous.
In china heads would roll for this kind of cover up and yet companies still do it. The problem is systemic. Yes lets applaud the FDA this once but does anyone doubt that they will look the other way when they find that the pharma companies were paying this company to fake the studies.
We need to overhaul the system when it is more profitable to keep people sick than to make them healthy. All the money in medicare and welfare and whatnot... wouldn't we actualy save money if we spent money on cures not bandaids.
I think people pull the corporate greed card far too often. Many times accusing ethical buisnessmen of crimes against humanity... But this industry has true malice at its core. They intentionaly profit off pure fraud. They knowingly sacrifice all morals and ethics to line their pockets. There is no other industry with such evil intentions.
Why doesn't the FDA require labs to be CLIA compliant? Also, the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO) provides oversite of labs. Either way 1900 instances of lab fraud is why corporations need more regulatory enforcement.
Yes, let's do what the Tea party and Republicans want. Get rid of all the regulations and regulatory agencies.
Check out the ALEC. This right wing organization is calling all the shots behind the scene for the right. They craft both state and federal laws, all aimed at getting rid of government oversight, lawsuits, and environmental laws.
Let the really big corporations do what they do best! Falsify records, lie, cheat, steal, cook the books, deep six any negative data on their way to bigger and bigger profits. Who cares if a certain percentage of the little people die.
You know, collateral damage is an acceptable loss for the greater gain, right?
Any corporation that does this kind of thing should be out of business IMMEDIATELY. No assumption of innocence. These ARE NOT HUMAN BEINGS, they are HUGE CORPORATIONS with a charter that REQUIRES THEM TO MAKE AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE, NOT TO OBEY LAWS.
Well if corporations are now being treated with the rights of individuals they should be put to trial and sentenced to jail time whne they breakthe law. (metaphoricaly of course but still there needs to be more than just small fines for such deviants)
Drugs when absolutely needed are helpful but can be scary. I prefer name-brand over generic, tend to be safer than a knock-off drug in my opinion. Every buy generic foods? Not the same.
PHUK big PHARMA. Only thing I take is 1 baby aspirin a day, cuz I do believe that does help. Many more than don't say that's a good thing and it makes sense. Thins your blood--JUST A LITTLE and that's good to prevent plaque build up and crap like that. For every other thing that ails me, nothing better than a nice, flavorful, relaxing bud. Smoked slowly and pleasantly and the pains and b.s. of the day go away. Next day, feel Great! And I don't pay $10+ a PILL either. Screw those legalized drug cartels who line our politicians pockets.
Ok, I am a hospital pharmacist for 32 years. I am anti Big Pharma and their multi Billion $$ prescription ads in all media for many years. To TakinIt...I love the bud, but can no longer partake due to random testing, tho I should move to Ca or Co due to Established physical ailments that it would help, and for which I DO take take established pharmaceuticals, 90% generic, whch DO keep me alive. I am 55 going on 70, sometime it feels (like I've been tied to the whipping post...sorry, got carried away) . The rest of you paranoid phuckers are idiots...don't "ask your doctor" , ask your pharmacist, preferably one in a hospital. Peace... over & out !
PS: The FDA did its job and it is much more complicated than any of you can possibly comprehend
CO....NOT CA! If you're a pharmacist, you got the coin to relocate quite nicely I would imagine, then, you could switch over to the truly organic medicinal side of your profession! Let me know if ya do. I'll move there too and I'll call on you!!!
Is there no credibility left in this country? What & who the hell are the American people supposed to believe nowadays? Everything in our daily lives this day and age is a lie for the purpose of greed!
Any corporation that pulls this kind of crap should DIE. All the investors lose EVERY PENNY and ANYBODY in a position of responsibility GOES TO PRISON.
I am SICK and TIRED of CORPORATIONS BUYING my government, committing crimes then paying a small fine (if even THAT) and going on their way. THESE ARE LEGAL CONSTRUCTS, NOT HUMAN BEINGS.
The right of free speech? THAT is INSANE. These corporations have NO RIGHTS AT ALL.
Well that is nice to hear that the FDA actually caught misconduct, and is going to investigate further. Now if they actaully end up doing anything effective to prevent this in the future I will be very impressed considering my very low opinion of the ethics at the FDA.
Maybe they are just trying to show that they aren't quite as bad as the SEC.
The drug companies just MIGHT have to reevaluate results? Pretty wishy-washy. And what kind of action is being taken against Cetero? Seems to be they should be shut down pronto.
The whole issue of clinical trials is a disgrace. The protocols are written by the pharmaceutical industry who manipulate so that results are favourable for themselves.
Investigators are not required to register planned group and sub-group analyses.
If a protocol is discontinued the results don't have to be passed on to the regulatory authorities. But why are trials stopped? Because "there are difficulties”. One “difficulty” may be because some patients die!
The FDA takes our money but does not work for us the people. Get with it. Not hard to grasp.

How is that "not working for us the people"?

I know............................."Ask your doctor......."
This is not working because the corporations HAVE NO FEAR.
A small fine? Take it out of petty cash or pay a worker less. Great.
CORPORATE DEATH PENALTY. Put the FEAR OF GOD into these corporations.
Put a few CEO's and boards in PRISON and this crap wouldn't happen again.
An existential crisis focuses the mind like nothing else.

Ahhhh, CORPORATE GREED at its finest!!!
At the detriment of the LOWLY CONSUMER of course.
Exactly! Snake oil anyone? You know, the panacea that cures what ails you. (sarcasm)
More regulation, please. This stuff just can't be allowed to continue.
Say it with me:
CORPORATE DEATH PENALTY.
Investors get zero. Board and CEO GO TO PRISON.
Corporations have no fear. We need to INSTILL FEAR.
Nothing like an existential crisis to focus the mind.

Why is this outfit still operating?
A hired Big Pharma gun cooking the data?? Who would have thought!!
Is that egg on your face?

Long live the new Corporate States of America!
+1. I totally agree.
WE NEED A CORPORATE DEATH PENALTY.

Heaven forbid they should tell us what drugs. Ninety percent of the drugs don't work anyhow and most times the cure is worse than the disease.
Not to mention about all the vaccines.
Drugs when absolutely needed are helpful but can be scary. I prefer name-brand over generic, tend to be safer than a knock-off drug in my opinion. Every buy generic foods? Not the same.

Did you know that aspirin was never actually approved by the FDA?

How about a little middle ground. I wouldn't get rid of all the regulatory agencies if you didn't turn the country into a socialist nightmare.
