She could have switched to smokeless Nicotine if she couldn't kick the addiction. She also didn't need to commit a new crime. Her chance of being compliant with her required anti-rejection medication is not good. A heart given to her would probably be rejected as a result.

It is not heartless, in this situation, to no longer consider her for a transplant. Give someone else more likely to be successful a chance.

She doesn't have insurance and wants the state to pay for the transplant, and if she dies in state custody, her relatives can sue the state for not taking care of her when she was sick! Good way of not paying any insurance all your life and getting life insurance at the taxpayers expense, when you die! Pretty sad that her compulsive behaviors were more compelling than her heart transplant. She has only herself to blame, but I still feel sorry for her. We are all our own worst enemy.
