I am amazed that the news, the medical profession, the religious community, mental health, all want to proclain this amazing finds about addition. In 1878 a doctor Finch wrote one of the most comprehensive acknowledgements of addiction as a disease. In 1965 Dr. E.M Jellynk got the AMA to recognize alcoholism as a disease. In the 1980s and 90's we made signifcant progress in the treatment of addictions and where very sucssesful in treating addicts. In the 2000, due to influence of the insurance industry and the mental health field, every bit of the work we did in the field of addictions and treatment of the addict and thier families. "Chronic Brain Disorder"? Hell, we've know this for years. So tell me, what's the big deal? When are we going to get back to honest and comprehensive treatment of addiction or is the medical profession going to continue to feed their egos with, WOW! look what we found. Please..........
I have worked in the field of addictions for 33 years and still do work in the field of addiction and I refuse to change doing comprehensive and effective work ......
