I ate it for three days straight on a whim trying to be "healthy", and was extremely sick for over two weeks right afterward. I always assumed that all store bought poultry had salmonella, especially when it is ground (spreads the bacterea from the surface to throughout the meat). Who knew that poultry was generally salmonella free. I will keep thoroughly cooking it and disinfecting the surfaces that the raw meat touches anyway.

I always assumed that all store bought poultry had salmonella, especially when it is ground (spreads the bacterea from the surface to throughout the meat). Who knew that poultry was generally salmonella free. I will keep thoroughly cooking it and disinfecting the surfaces that the raw meat touches anyway.
Sure glad I don't eat the flesh of animals. Meat is getting less safe, more disease in the animals and more torture for them as well.

The industry keeps fighting all attempts to limit the use of antibiotics in animal feed. Animals are fed antibiotics even when they are not sick just to increase their rate of weight gain. The savings to the producer is small. Decades of antibiotics in feed have produced antibiotic resistant bacteria thought natural selection. The food industry lobby is as powerful as any in DC.
Sheesh! Apparently none of you followed the story that closely. Evil corporations out for just a buck? Then why did Cargill on its own initiative, shut down the plant and recall 36 million pounds of meat as soon as it was informed by the Gov't? They've found that the contamination came from a supplier so they have instituted more checks and safety measures than are required and required anyone who wants to sell them turkey going forward to have additional above government regulation safety checks in place. And you think this will be a positive impact on their bottom line? And to top it off, the Gov't has signed off on them re-opening all product lines of the plant, but Cargill has stated they will only bring them up in stages as they validate that their new processes are working... Yep, sounds like an uncaring corporation to me... NOT.

Simple way to avoid all this ~ eat vegetables, fruits, whole grains and legumes and stay away from animal products. You'll feel better and look better and you won't risk getting horribly sick or dying from food-bourne illnesses.
NICE a brain not many around I haven't gone completely meat free yet but am headed that way I love fish!!!! and shrimp!!!! I think slashing the FDA budget is the only way to go....undoubtedly all those pesky safety regulations are the reason we see these toxic food outbreaks occuring with such frequency and scale.
