I've had psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis since I was 19. Before then I was very active but the arthritis threw a wrench into my exercise program. I still try to exercise and keep in shape but it is difficult. I have had bouts of arterial fibrillation since I was in my mid 20s. At 37, I had a stroke. I am now in my early 40s and have to watch everything I eat and exercise as much as I can. Many of the people I know who have psoriasis also have had cardiac and stroke problems before they were 40 so the study is not too surprising.
This is about as comforting as an executioner's axe. So now besides the skin rash, itching and psoriatic arthritis, I should worry about cardiovascular disease?? Wow, this much fun should be illegal.
Well...I know this is true now since I have had a stroke for at the time was no known cause and I have A-Fib but not on a regular basis. Your right sue this is more fun than I can stand but we still have to deal. My psoriasis though is not severe and I have had it since I was 19 and now 57. Two of my sons have it also but not severe.
Last year a friend of mine had serious psoriasis on his elbo's, it was really built-up and he was in excellent health otherwise, and out of know were he had a heart attack, his doctor was shocked, they got him up and going again. Reading this now it really makes sense. I'm going to e-mail him this article.
My Dad has Psoriasis, but he found that eliminating dairy products has greatly reduced his symptoms. I guess the dairy, especially milk and cheese was worsening the inflammation and flare ups. I'm not saying that this will help everyone, but it helped him. Most people are lactose intolerant to a certain degree anyway-we don't have the 5 stomachs that cows have to properly digest it.
I've had psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis off and on for 20 years. Methotrexate, Humira, Topical steroids, Remacaid. Its amazing my liver has lasted this long with me beating the crap out of it all these years. Now, unsurprisingly, I have another issue to "worry" with.
Cannabis is well known anti-inflammatory agent. In scientific studies it has reduced the incidence of throat and prostate cancer. Reasearch is ongoing to determine what other cancers it may prevent. As an anti-inflammatory agent it would likely reduce the incidence of cardio-vascular events.
I have mild bouts with psoriasis in the same spots as my father. Since it seems to be an immune condition, I would not doubt it could be linked to dairy products. Genetically, I understand, only people from the Central and Northern European areas can tolerate bovine dairy products. Perhaps there is a genetic trait to psoriasis linking us to more mid-eastern areas. I have not been drinking so much milk lately and I have not had the issues. I seems to flair up erratically. Bet the psoriasis test will be on the latest of insurance tests so they can raise the rates.
Psoriasis is already on the insurance tests because it is considered an auto-immune disease. Now the insurance companies can charge us higher premiums citing this study. Ain't life grand!
I've heard all of this some time ago...my husband has bad psoriasis, plus heart disease in his family, so, it doesn't look good for him. That's why I keep myself fit and looking good so that when I'm a widower in my 40s or 50s, I can find someone else, who at least is not broken.
Me and my two brothers have psoriasis. My little brother and older brother the worst. Me just a mild to severe. The creams they give you just thin your skin which leads to cancer with to much sun. Then you can go to a tanning salon that will kill it. But also leads to skin cancer. Me 33 and 30 my little brother and in which we are both now experiencing the affects of psoriatic arthritis another bonus. And now this news just adds to the fun. Not including we all have severe anxiety disorder which also leads to a short life with heart attacks and strokes. Well it looks like we just have to deal with what we have been dealt with :). What are we going to do sit around and cry about it lol........Enjoy life we all could be in worse condition !!!!!!!
Have had Psoriasis for 30 years. Used all the creams, light treatment, humera, etc. Methotrexate works best for me. Have heart problems and strokes on both sides of my family. At age 60, I haven't had any problems other than high cholesterol. This doesn't make me feel better about the future, though.
Study shows that manure spreaders are being used in other places besides the farm.
Its irresponsible to print crap studies like this for folks that are unable to sort out fact from fiction.

My sister had severe psoriasis and died while pregnant of a heart attack at 18 years old

Getting old sucks. I thought everyone knew that.
My sentiments exactly Sue! David, I've had this condition since I was a child and developed arterial fibrillation at 24. Is that old? Not in my book.

Isn't that great, one more thing to worry about now.
More money for drug companies, diagnostic labs and doctors, as if they need more.
All psoriasis drugs have serious costs and side effects.
And obviously psoriasis has more health implications than previously understood. Your problem is what exactly?
My best friend suffered from psoriasis for years and died just last month from a stroke. He was 58. So sad.

I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, it is the fault of a previous administration, or the recently elected Congress. Got to be somebodies fault.
The fact that something I cannot pronounce can ultimately lead to my death is hardly surprising...

Just out; ketchup lowers your cholesteroil. What a bunch of you know what. Stay tuned folks. You may outlive all of this.
<begin snark> They ought to make a pill for this. <end snark>

Omega 3's are an even more potent anti-inflammatory without having to deal with that pesky non-legal thing.
Corruption is a parasite and is spreading like a disease. We need to nip it from the bud. Join me.

As has been said before, if one works the numbers enough an elephant can hang off a cliff with its tail tied to a daisy.

Wow. I think that's the most shallow response I have ever heard. Sounds like you're the one's who's broken.
Terrible thing to say, you probably dont even look good. Just a an inflated self worth.
