Take our current labels: ingredients are listed ...but how? BY PERCENTAGE of something? Is it BY WEIGHT? BY VOLUME? Who knows? It is a big secret! If by weight the makers just make sure all the "bad" stuff they add is dehydrated. If by volume, shucks, they can just squish it nice an' tight in a vacuum press.
And don't forget the secret categories of "spices" and "flavorings" and "meat" products ... we would probably be prone to vomit if we really knew.
I get a case of the willies everytime I see packaging that says "All Meat" ... excuse me?????? What is the alternative? Who knows? I don't.
I would appreciate a more accurate reflection of the serving size. No adult eats two fifths of a can of soup. I am not sure if higher calories counts would help me in choosing what to eat but it could not hurt.
Truth in labeling? It will never happen!
