Gotta love these articles that are little more than advertisements for outrageously priced potions. You can buy the same stuff with the same strengths for 1/4 of the stated prices (and made in the USA). You can even make your own glycolic acid peel and mix your own hydroquinone cream. I make my own tinted sunscreen by buying a good quality sunscreen (check Consumers Reports) and adding a little dark liquid foundation.
Buy more product, buy more product, buy more product.
This reads like a press release for a cosmetics company.
How about stay out of the sun, eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, exercise, and quit smearing your face with oils, lotions, and other crap that clogs your pores and poisons your body.
Okay now how about giving those of us not blessed with money something we can actually afford to help our skin. The advice above is great but who has that kind of money to pay out especially in today's economy. This looks like it was written for women who can spend $60-$70 for skin products.
Exercise will keep you looking much younger than any cream or staying out of the sun. Its also a lot cheaper and makes you feel better. Get off the couch.
Who can afford these products on a regular basis???? Outrageous prices. Glad I know how to research these types of products and find the better prices.
Doesn't hydroquinone or bleach damage your skin and make it less able to protect against sunlight? Who researched this article? How can putting chemicals on your skin be a good thing??
Not only are the products expensive, the active ingredient in the Murad, hydroquinone: Cancer, Developmental/reproductive toxicity, Neurotoxicity, Allergies/immunotoxicity, Organ system toxicity (non-reproductive), Ecotoxicology, Use restrictions.
I'll take my brown spots over smearing my face w/toxic chemicals. I'll also keep exfoliating w/just honey & baking soda.
Other than smearing poisons on the skin (which absorb into the body better than the stomach), this "article" misleads consumers in other ways.
In some parts of this country, there isn't enough sunlight over the year, and it is necessary to take vitamin D3 every day. Spend on the vitamin, not the creams. D3 prevents cancer; some of the ingredients on those creams cause cancer.
While it isn't popular, gently rubbing areas of skin with a pumice stone will remove more dead cells than any chemical product. I also scrape my skin (gently), and have avoided the stringy-baggy neck that most people ignore when looking in the mirror (but everybody else sees). I'm almost 60, and even though my skin has changed, it isn't as bad as many, and I do go outside.
Absorption into the skin has been completely ignored by the FDA, in spite of the fact that patches are used to deliver medicines. Some people's stomachs, intestines, and livers break down chemicals taken by mouth (such as the important vitamin B12), but this vitamin will absorb whole and not broken down through the skin. When the FDA says that "only 10 percent" is absorbed through skin, they are not telling you that less than that is absorbed as a whole molecule by many people if eaten, because of digestion and the liver's sorting actions. Just remember that when putting poisons on the skin: you will accumulate these poisons into all parts of your body, not just the skin, and the poisons won't break down. Cancer is no joke, and if you think you're broke now, cancer will manage to drain every drop.
I'm sorry, a pumice stone?! That's pretty much advocating the use of a lava rock to be scraped across ones delicate facial skin in order to exfoliate. I don't think so. IMO it's irresponsible to come on a public forum and suggest such a thing. I was told by my esthetician that when you use something abrasive on your skin, that is what causes your skin to create more brown spots and splotches on your skin because you are essentially causing the skin to scar ever so slightly. I'd much rather listen to someone who has been specifically trained and is licensed to treat skin disorders than someone advocating using a lava rock on their skin. Also, unless you have a faulty liver, its function is to filter out any chemicals the body comes in contact with. So, I'm not too worried about my vitamin a chemical peels I do on a monthly basis in order to repair the sun damage I received as a teenager baking myself to a crisp in the 80's which did much more damage in the first place.
Sounds like a commercial for expensive beauty products.........Stay out ot the noon day sun as much as possible ........Plant shade trees in your yard and neighborhood.........Be conserned about the damage sun does to your skin...........Instead of paying $65.00 an ounce for a worthless skin cream ,consider purchasing a patio awning.........Wear hats .......use sunglasses..........cover your skin with enough clothing to protect youself.........Don't count on sunscreen, it doesn't block the cancer causing rays.
The Egyptians got it right. Throw out all the overpriced exfoliants and lotions. Just wrap yourself in Gauze from head to toe and wear some Raybans to protect your eyes. Who needs SPF45? Plus, everyone will think you're lady GaGa!!

A shot glass is not one ounce, but two ounces!

But ironically, if you are somewhat overweight -- not as many wrinkles! :)

it's the ingredients that matter. just comparison shop and you will be fine. you can also look for natural products that may have the same effect.

Too much time indoors, too much time sitting behind glass in the sun and too much time under fourescent lamps. No wonder.
exfoliate (the traditional way with a scrubb) and stay hydrated....you will be amazed at how great your skin looks...and it's cheap!

Brown Spots. Use what Michael Jackson and family used.
In todays society, heaven forbid if your 45 and don't look 30!
