I bet this could have been prevented by properly washing the fruit. Using a brush to clean the surface and prompt refrigeration below 41 degrees would certainly help prevent and slow bacteria growth. It is too bad this happened and I feel sorry for the victims of this outbreak.
Of course I bought a cantelope yesterday at Walmart. (sarcasm) Do you think Walmart would have removed tainted melons from shelves..... now I'm nervous about eating it and serving it to my family.
Hey, I have a novel idea.... how about Walmart or the fine reporter on this story provide some direction if my family has consumed this product.....?!! I mean, I dunno.... maybe its no big deal that the mother of my unborn child had a craving and hit up the ole wally word from some juicy loup... once again, the media just tells a story but gives no real insight, thanks for nothing!
