Yes, because we all know that vaccines are a soft kill method cooked up by the Illuminati shadow government in order to "thin the herds" and make the world easier to rule. Why is it that every topic on "health" somehow becomes an anti-pharma rally? First, BigPharma does not produce vaccines, that is the BIOTECH industry. Second, vaccines are typically produced to provide immunity from virus, not bacteria. That's because we have antibiotics to combat bacterial infection, while viral infection is very difficult to treat after the fact. Much better model to confer immunity rather than wait for infection.
We are terrible at monitoring our food chain in the US. We create agencies like the FDA and I swear the money does not go for on site inspections. It goes into managers pockets who do very little. Their are poor nations with less regulations that have a safer food chain? Why is that? Maybe instead of the US consistently worrying about other Countries we should elect people concerned about the US and only the US.
Although I agree with you about our corrupt beauraucratic system being a grand and elaborate form of incompetence that leads to people's suffering and death like this, I have to ask one question. Which "poorer countries" are you talking about? Not all of them have better regulations than we do. India certainly doesn't. Please cite sources if possible.

Many products on the market will totally aware of the Federal government, in the past several years not inspecting products as they should be, so that leaves the market opened for these type of bacterial poisoning.

Since June there have been 11 food recalls in 4 months, less than 3 per month. Prior to June there were 36 recalls in 6 months, or 6 per month. In 2010 there were 64 recalls - average of over 5 per month. In 2009 there were 71 recalls - 6 per month, and in 2008 there were 59 - 5 per month. P.S. I am not republican or democrat, I believe our partisan politics are ripping the country apart. I AM for smart, evidence-based decision making. I am not in favor of disbanding the FDA or USDA, I am in favor of trimming fat and streamlining current processes to become more efficient and effective. President Obama has proven to be a much wiser President than each and every Republican President that has espoused instituting Supply-Side Economics into the American National economic policy.
Supply-Side Economics has been proven to be a failure, and is partially responsible for this outbreak, and fully responsible for the current recession/near great depression/banking failure. Supply-side economics as instituted by the GOP, generated policies that diminshed regulation of all types, and diminished the regulatory agencies from being/becoming effective.
The Founding Fathers instituted laws to diminish the control of the British on American lives, it didn't diminish American lives like the current GOP/Supply-siders/Free Marketeers.

Imagine the horror when the company realized how many people died and got sick. Can that company continue as a business? My family owns businesses. I wash ALL my produce "before I eat it" and comparing autos to canteloupes is nothing short of asinine. The EPA requires funding to perform tests on irrigation water used to farm to make sure that the level of bad bacteria is low enough not to make it into the food supply. The GOP/Tea Party demands the end of the EPA, cutbacks to the EPA budget, and removal of regulation that would save your life.

Regulation is needed to babysit people who should have their own processes in the first place to reduce the risk of this problem. Blame it on government if you may, but I blame Jensen Farms. 3,000 deaths a year from tainted food? That's very bad. That is about the same as deaths from automobile collisions. (There is no such thing as an automobile accident. There is always a cause. Usually, human failure.) Your chances of dieing from tainted food is greater than being murdered, and there is a lot of those.

Since we are planning to layoff all those darned Federal government parasites that identify problems like this and develop cures for them we should have nothing to worry about in the future.
Problems like this are, obviously, very serious and they are recurring problems, and to a large degree inevitable, they highlight the need for qualified food inspectors and medical researchers at the CDC and NIH.
