The ban enforces only the over-the-counter, epinephrin inhalers, which are NOT the corticosteroids. Also, the ban is more of a "phasing out", enforced by the FDA, not Obama. Do a little research, eh?
The corticosteroid inhalers are the expensive, daily-dose inhalers like Flovent, QVar, etc etc. They can cost well over $300 per month without insurance, which is probably why the poor kids don't get them. Even when I had insurance, really, really good insurance, my inhaler still cost over $75 a month.
nibor, please post your resource, otherwise we will think you are just a Obama critic with little intelligence. But if it is Fox channel, don't bother, I don't think they even know how to tell the truth about anything! It also says a lot about you!
Actually those inhalers were banned as a result of the Montreal Protocol which was signed by Ronald Reagan in 1987. You might want to check your facts before posting comments. The sad part is that these inhalers can prevent hospitalizations and even deaths from asthma, are readily available, covered by all insurances and available through the companies that produce them for the uninsured. It's just not being prescribed as it should be and when it is parents often do not give it as prescribed. This is not conjecture. I am a health care professional who cares for children with asthma and I see this every day.
Obama has just banned these to be replaced by inhalers 4 times as expensive. The less expensive inhalers might offend a tree somewhere.
