My wife made me throw out a cantaloupe that we bought last week.
I'm sure we are not the only ones.
Not worth trying to redeem our loss but if a few million did the same, then it adds up.
We can only hope that we helped the economy somehow.
My deep condolences to thos that lost their lives.

Just think. If we had little bitty government,we wouldn't even know there was a problem. According to the Teapublicans we don't need the CDC,FDA,FAA,OSHA,Public Education,Minimum Wage,Child Labor Laws,EPA, basically every public and consumer protection agency and now the USPS. I wonder why they want to go back to 1900? Combine that with double digit #'s of Teapublican state legislatures and governors changing voter registration laws to suppress Democrat votes,Hmmm. I wounder what they are up to? Is it just me or does it appear that the Teapublicans are not satisfied with removing the middle class from existence but they also want to stack the deck so that there will never again be a middle class. Because once you take away all of the public protection and load the supreme court with corporate right wing appeasers you have created a state of Slavery. So is that what all this little bitty government is all about?
Ken you mean state of Slavery. Not me I'll fight to the my last breath. If T-Folks really believe it or want it then there's will be no more USA as we know. We'll have Civil War on our hand, this time fight each other for foods, energy etc.
We all know how to stop this craziness.Not only go vote,but take a group to vote. Tepublicans are counting on this being a close race. If it's close they can cheat and supress votes until they win. Get a group together and make sure everybody is registered to vote and everybody complies with the new Nazi laws that have been passed by the Teathugs. Tell your friends to organize groups of voters and make sure that they all comply with voter laws. If you have any doubt about your district make sure the media is there and get there early. I plan on taking off from work to make sure my group makes it. We can do this together. It will take even more votes to defeat cheaters and that is exactly what they are doing. Don't wait till the last minute start know. The Teathugs started when Obama was inaugurated. I have never done this for an election. I had rather do this than fight another civil war!
Ken don't get me wrong here alright, I moderate conservative and I know that quite a few of my family members and friends are into T-Party ideology. but as for me I don't believe in our Govermemt right now that's include all three branches. I believe that's corporate America, Elite or gobal elite or whatever you want call them already rule this country & planet. I'm not conspiracy type person. As I know I just live out the rest of my life and hope nothing happen in my life time.

It's amazing what people will believe (or just make up) about a group they've decided to hate. Where does it say the Tea Party wants to abolish the FDA, FAA, minimum wage, etc? Do you want a bloated, ineffective federal govt or do you want something smaller and less wasteful? Everyone complains about the fraud and waste in federal spending, but when anyone tries to do anything about it, they're the enemy. Do you want to end up like Greece?

Our Federal gov. should realize the problems they create when you cut the inspectors in half, remove most of the funding for the agency and then turn them into a toothless tiger. Between chinas imports and our gov regulators it will be a contest to see who kills the most Americans or who says I am sorry the most?

How ignorant Liberal's can turn a story about Listeriosis into some political rant is beyond me! The real answer is to wash your fruit! There will be times when even that doesn't work. Do the wack jobs think we should do DNA testing on all the fruits and veggies in the U.S.... Because I have caught Salmonella, and that is what the CDC does when there is an outbreak!
Anyone familiar with farming would realize that Listeria is a common microbe found in the intestinal tract of animals... wild and domestic... Unless we build the Great wall of China around every farm, we cannot prevent this. Deer walking through the cantelope field could have caused this out break... Birds flying over head can cause others...
Why do you call Liberals ignorant? It is the Republicans that don't seem to believe in or understand science. Sure a deer or bird can infect food with their feces, if, and only if the product is left in a warm, damp area for a long enough period for the bacteria to breed. This means when the fruits are being picked, rotten or stained ones are not being thrown out, and these then must infect other fruit around it. We are talking about fifteen people dying from this outbreak. Your explanation and your belittling of people asking questions is retarded. If the corporate farm that sent these fruits out is not washing their fruit thoroughly because they are "saving money" then they are also MURDERING people! People in the millions eat fresh cantaloupe daily. They aren't all dying. Or getting sick. I've had salmonella twice. I know EXACTLY where it came from. I am a liberal. I am not ranting here or blaming anyone. However there is a tendency for the corporate farms to try and cut corners by washing too many varied fruits and veggies together and thereby contaminating all of it because they cannot oversee the process correctly. In the days of the smaller independent farmers these outbreaks did not happen as much.

Why are all these cases coming to the forefront now? Is someone infecting the fruits and veggies with bacterium? Could it be a possible case of terrorism on a small scale? If not, then why aren't these products being cleansed thoroughly with antibacterial sprays or soaps, etc? How would the Lister bacterium get inside of a fruit, especially one with such a thick skin? I understand bird or animal feces can be a culprit in such cases. But why then, again are these products not washed?
How many people wash a cantaloupe before they cut it? If someone starts spraying antibiotics on food, someone with allergies to those products would get sick.
Maybe we should just ban food, that way no one would get sick from what they eat. LOL

No this world is not a safe place. There is so much uncertainty and anxiety sufficient for each day. Why worry about the next day? You can't add onto your life by worrying or you can't control what goes on in this world. All we can do is pray.
Who work there?
It makes you wonder what is really going on. If it does not add up or make sense something is going on that we the people are not being told.
