This kind of work represents what our species is capable of in it's best hours. Those demagogues and shills on the Republican debate stage who would not acknowledge the Theory of Evolution are the other side of the coin.
I'm surprised that Barry wasn't awarded this one, too. I'm sure 'sometime' in the future he will be responsible for some kind of medical miracle that merits a pre-emptory award.
It is unfortunate that the Nobel committee chose to discredit itself so badly in 2009 and diminish the credibility of an award that used to actually means something.

Since humans don't typically get cancer until after they have had kids, I highly doubt we are better off "leaving the body alone."
It's really too bad that some people can't see beyond their own bigotry, to congratulate and honor, great scientific work in this country. This is a big reason why the rest of the world passes us by in so many areas.
Unfortunately, the average dude/dudette won't go out of their way to look into what these 3 scientists accomplished. It's nothing short of amazing.

People here want to be celebrities on pop music or sports, we don't nurture science, so don't keep your hope too high. People like this man are the exception rather than the rule in today's America.
People like Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian (famous for doing what?) made probably more money in their short lives than many Nobel laureates. That is our system, garbage in garbage out.
