Has anyone ever noticed that most of these food borne illnesses pertaining to lettuce or spinach have come from salad in a bag? Do the microbes multiply faster in an enclosed environment? Food for thought
Why didn't we find out sooner. By the time that this article came out, most if not all ,salads with a sell by date of September 29, had already been consumed. I guess if you didn't eat it all and still have some wilted salad on hand you can take it in and get your moneyback. Now we know what made us sick. That doesn't really help me much.
Your mother taught you that your common sense dictates that you thoroghly clean all vegetables and fruit. Lettuce packers, for example, should have been cognizant of this procedure from the Health department and internal procedures. If one bag out of 33,000 pounds was tainted than this recall is far beyond its" need.
