It's been a couple of years, since this article came out. Modern IVF facilities have another tool available to them. It is called Vitrification. Vitrification is a recently development rapid embryo/sperm/egg freezing technique. In the past, embryology labs used a slow freezing technique. Unfortunately, cryoservival for eggs and embryos was much lower with the slow freeze. With Vitrification, eggs and especially embryos servive freezing much much better.
As far as whether one should freeze eggs or embryos goes, ideally you should freeze embryos, fertilzied eggs. The reason for that is embryos have higher servival rate. Statistics show that pregnancy rates are just as high in properly frozen embryos as in fresh embryos which have never been frozen. The same cannot be said for frozen eggs; pregnancy rates for frozen eggs are 15-20 lower than those for frozen embryos.
