As a physical therapist, I would agree that the rise in neck, back and shoulder pain relates to long hours on our digital devices sitting or standing in poor posture. Forward head posture also causes the loss of correct posture in the lower back, and pushes the shoulders down and forward. This may result in headache, neck pain, shoulder pain, low back pain or upper extremity pain or numbness (or any combination of the above). Good posture is often the easiest remedy for the problem, accompanied by some extremely simple exercises. Certainly there is nothing wrong with chiropractic, but I'm going to plug my profession and suggest visiting a physical therapist. He or she can show you what good posture looks like and teach you a couple simple exercises to stretch and avoid the tightness of the spinal joints and shoulders that occurs with prolonged forward head posture. That way you can treat yourself and minimize the expense incurred for treatment of your problem.
Designed by healthcare professionals, the mobile app “AcheBreak” is a break and exercise reminder designed to prevent and treat repetitive stress injuries, carpal tunnel injury, “Text Neck” and texting tendonitis. It is customizable and will help users develop healthy habits, by learning to take mini-exercise breaks regularly. Since it is on a mobile device, it doesn't interrupt games, or computer work, but it is used as a reminder to take breaks. It is customizable for kids, teens, youth and adults.
My thumb started to cause serious pain from using a standard mouse provided by manufacturers. I replaced my mouse at work and at home with a remote mini-mouse more fitting for female (small) hands. The pain subsided in days and has never returned. Ensuring that devices are customized for my own use is something I call an investment in me.
Sounds like a plug for chiropractors and physical therapists to me... "You have Text Neck. I'll need to see you every week for the rest of your life. Make sure you pay the $40 co-pay before you leave today." And the guy has the phrase "Text Neck" trademarked?! Do I owe him fifty cents now for saying it twice in my post?! Unbelievable...
Reviews show this chair takes getting used to but after some time it appears to help with body alignment, reduce low back pain, and improve body mechanics while helping to build core body muscles. Has anyone found this chair to be useful?
...next is Social Security "disability" payments for being permanently disabled... all you need is a doc to sign the papers and it's a free ride forever- AND, as a side bonus, you can continue texting 'cuz the damage has already been done!
I hear Medical Marijuana will help alleviate those horrible, horribly debilitating symptoms...
what a crock. i have no doubt that some stupid people might have this issue. The rest of us look up from what we are doing once in a while.
BTW you can get this same affliction from reading too much also. I know because I got it years ago from reading under the covers with a flashlight as a child.

I just got this last night. Now I can't move my neck to one side without pain. Sucks.
HA HA this is funny. Now the young have their own physical afflictions now. And they aren't even old like me, All bent over with back and neck pains.
man... and I thought the crossed eyes I got from the Opti-Grab was bad... these poor folks.
That is what stupid people get from typing on a PHONE.
I honestly thought this was some kind of joke for the first few paragraphs;)

I wont have text neck do to the fact I cant read the tiny screens on all the toys.
So I don't own any. And I hear that some of them are telephones.
You know that thing that lets you just talk to people no typing needed.
Chiropracty without Massage Therapy is like sex without foreplay. Not very good for anyone.
Anyone with a texting injury probably doesn't have much of a brain left too.
Just wondering? Ball chairs http://www.amazon.com/Gaiam-Balance-Ball-Chair-Black/dp/B0007VB4NE
