I shop all the time at our local chain and never once see anyone grab something from the salad bar..Just curious why would you go to the market where you could get fresh only to pick up wilting crud that sits out for weeks on end ?
Everytime one of these E. Coli outbreaks occur and they start looking at salad bars it really brings back memories.
1986 in Louisville there was an outbreak and I was working in a restaurant working my way through school. They suspected produce and an army of inspectors spread out across the county.
One showed up at my work where I was prepping lettuce and told me I had to soak the lettuce for 10 minutes in 160 degree water. I told them we weren't planning on selling Iceberg Lettuce Soup that day.
It ended up being some exotic fruit in a fancy downtown restaurant that came from central America.
About 2 years ago I ate at our local Pizza Hut. About 3-4 hours later, I became deathly sick. I spent the next 5 hours in the bathroom. I had sever vomiting and diarrhea, mostly at the same time.
I believed it came from the food. How does one know if they have eaten bad food?
You are lucky - I spent fourteen days with sever stomach pain - never ate anything during that time. Never slept - sat up in chair the whole time. Lost 15 pounds during that time. A visit to the Doctor got no help at all - fortunately I had some "pain" pills left over from oral surgery. Couldn't keep even that down until about the twelfth day.
Thank Obama, Clinton, and Bush for NAFTA. Time to start growing our own and eating from our own. Another reason why farming yourself makes sense. You can do that indoors too.
So how do you make them pay for your pain and suffering? I mean, really, if they did this to me, then they need to pay. What's going to stop them from doing it to somebody else? I had no idea how to report this, still don't, even though it is to late now........what about the next time? I don't know what to do, didn't then and still don't.
I always knew all this healthy eating could kill ;-)

Love it:
Get used to it. Wait until the government starts cutting more food and health inspectors.
Feed the cows only grass before slaughter.

You eat at a local restaurant and about 3-4 hours later, you become deathly sick and spend the next five hours with severe vomiting and diarrhea.

I think you just did.
Sorry for the bump. I got the duh laugh and didn't read ahead.
what kind of E. coli is this? O157:H7? if not, then E. coli is pretty common. Simple antibiotics will do the trick.
What do you expect, when the field workers just pee in the fields and don't use the porta potty's
At illeagal's wages, those 15 min. can cost you your life.
