Why is anyone surprised by this? Of course they won't reveal their names. That would be damaging to one of their biggest contributors. The medical industry.
Buyer Beware - You Are NOT allowed to be AWARE !!! How can a patient 'shop around' for a good doctor or surgeon if his/her (mal)performance record isn't publicly available?
It just seems that this is a poorly hidden excuse to give doctors protections that other service providers do not have. I can check the better business bureau to see if they guy cleaning my carpets has had complaints, that they mechanic that is working on my car has been accused of price gouging, or to see if my resturant has had health departnement violations but I cannot find out if my doctor has been touching women at his practice, lost surgical instruments in patients or if he had killed people due to sheer negligence. It is absurd that we don't have access to this information. The only reason is that the doctors have the money and influence to effect this travesty.

Typical protect the wealth good old boys and throw the general public to the wolves.

How about the Patient shoping around for doctors to SUE..... it does go both ways and we have a H--L of a lot of Stupid Lawsuits in this country.....
Who in there 'right' mind would have surgery performed by a known incompetent surgeon? How are you going to file a lawsuit if you're dead?
Your argument is like searching for a babysitter on the sex offender registry!
I have to disagree with your absurd speculation.
Shame I can get more info on a used car I might buy than on a doctor that's will operate on me.
Show me the Docfax!

If a doctor has been sued for malpractice i want to know. It could mean the difference between life and death depending on what the suit was about.
