Time to sue sugar manufacturers. Companies that make sugary drinks. Grocery stores.
Restaurants! Let's sue them too! They should know the danger, right?
Think that's silly?
Well, people are suing tobacco companies. They're suing gun manufacturers. They're suing carmakers for deaths caused by being stationary and slammed into by a drunk driver.
Look it up. I'm not kidding.
This is just another 'fear', another distraction conveniently set to keep us all scared and our attention from the looming financial collapse.
Maybe we'll all be so doped up on diabetes treatments that we won't protest much when Washington privatizes the profits and socializes the losses.
It doesn't? Hmmmm....."Women who drank two or more sugary beverages per day were four times more likely to develop high triglyceride levels than women who drank fewer sugar-sweetened beverages. Women with the liquid sugar habit were also were more likely to develop abnormal levels of fasting glucose, a sign they could be developing diabetes."
No, it doesn't. Ingesting a lot of sugar from a sugar laden diet will increase fasting blood glucose levels. If the women they tested went without their normal sugar ingestion for a few days, fasting blood glucose levels would come back to normal if they were not already pre-diabetic. Again, sugar does not cause diabetes, it is an old wives tale that needs to die.
Now be my guest if you want to argue further. My daughter is type 1, and she definitely didn't have "an overdose of sugar" for the first 4 years she was alive. This condition sucks, you would never want it nor know anyone who does.
Another junk science alarmist story from the news media. It is time that news journalists be held to practice standards. If they write a health article, it better be good science. If it is not the people should be able to sue the news media for billions! The media publishes any frickin' poor science that sounds like it would scare people or hate people or hate businesses. Journalists should be held accountable for doing adequate research to determine the strength of paper they summarize and should be held accountable for their summary. If this story were true, the number of diabetics would be 3.5 Billion!
That 522 million should split by stating that 90% of that number will type 2, the other 10% type 1. That's the percent split these days between the two types and it has been very steady over the past several decades.
The 90% of type 2 that could prop up is the one that is most preventable.
And the USA will be the leading nation with this disease.
America has turned into a land of FAT, SLOPPY, UNHEALTHY PIGS who eat out at McDonalds a couple of times a week.
Hopefully this projected figure will be even more and the majority of these slobs will start kicking the bucket.
World population control.
"Roglic said a substantial number of future diabetes cases were preventable. "It's worrying because these people will have an illness which is serious, debilitating, and shortens their lives," she said. "But it doesn't have to happen if we take the right interventions."
Wouldn't you want to list those interventions in this article? More should be done to educate people, not just lament their inevitable, yet preventable, diseases. Why would you write an article about a problem, knowing the solution, and not mention the cure?
Very good information. I cut out sodas and many sugary drinks several years ago, and with a work out program, and not changing my diet much, dropped a good 40lbs. I still indulge in the occasional soda, but it averages roughly one every 3 weeks.
2/3rd of diabetics are not over-weight. I'm one of these. I've weighed around 150 lbs since high school and I'm 71 years old. So don't think you have no risk on being a diabetic if your not over weight.
If your not a diabetic, watch the labels on carbohydrates which is sugar also. Alot of people that are not diabetics don't realize this. I was the best of the bunch that never read labels. I could out eat you out on donuts and cakes in my earlier years. My wife could just look at them and gain weight. With my genes, I still didn't gain weight.
Hopefully in the near future, stem-cells with get rid of diabetic for everyone. It probably won't happen in America, because it will cost the drug companies billions of profits. No doubt our drug companies have the FDA bought out, so don't look for help from them. They will railroad a Doctor curing diabetics. It's just the way it goes in America with greed over the health of us Americians.
Ready the attorneys!

While mankind willingly kills itself with sugar.

My local pharmacy is out of insulin, (lantus) since Thursday. Are they going to play God?

GREAT news For pharmacarical companies. Invest now For your and your children s future.
Stop drinking all forms of sweetened beverages. Regular or diet.
Regular over-taxes your system. Diet just lies to your brain which then makes you constantly hungry.
Drink only water or unsweetened teas.
