Great story; now I know why John Boner (Speaker of the House) is so dysfunctional. John, for the good of the country please stop taking all those drugs; cannabis, cocaine and amphetamines.
But, Mal'achi .... if he stops taking the drugs then according to the article he will acheive less dysfuntion (and therefore more erections). Right? So, I think you mean he should start taking more drugs?
This is a quality-of-life issue, Carolyn, one that effects men and their partners. Comments like this reek of feminine-sexism and shame our gender.
Certain drugs, such as ones used for hair-loss, have possible ED as a side effect. To me it seems a no-brainer that the more drugs you use, the more likely you will have ED. Chances are one or more of these drugs would have this side-effect, and the more you take the greater the chance.
Kiadi, give it a rest. I am sooo sick of all these poor, poor men and their tragic ED conditions. Every fifth commercial on TV or ad in a magazine wants to discuss this terrible affliction. Now it's headline news on MSN. How tiresome!
@lk734505 - no wonder you were bullied in school. I suffer from ED myself from three anti-convulsants and an extremely high dosage of blood pressure medication. You wouldn't be so flip if you had such a condition. Perhaps if you had a total hysterectomy and found each night that you 'suddenly had a headache' you'd feel differently.
How awful for you. Been there, done that on the total hyster. It is the least of my health issues. And it certainly isn't a national health crisis warranting repeated advertisements during the evening news.
congratulations... you're all correct! The drug manufacturers make the most money when you take 'em all and then make just one more to for you to take that will fix what they just broke. This would be so friggin' funny if it wasn't so sad.
lk734505, are there really more ED commercials than that for tampons, oseoporosis meds, vaginal oder products, and birth control vaginal rings, etc? There is just this one thing for men (OK theres Dr. Pepper Ten as well) and you can't stand it?
No Tom, it just seems that way when I watch sports with my family (including children) or the 6 o'clock news. Commercials for most of those products you mention, and the ED meds should be relegated to later evening.
All of those feminine itching, tampon, birth control, constipation, etc. commercials should be banned or moved to late night or only Lifetime channel. I am so fed up with having to hear about it constantly. It is strange the article focuses on men. I am sure that too many meds have a significant impact on a woman's libido.
One more story trying to tell us we deserve everything forever. There is a time and place for everything and then you die-some sooner, some later. That is how its alway been and how it will alway be.
I can't believe how much we Americans suckle from the pharmaceutical companies. The lines I see at pharmacy counters and drive-up windows astonishes me. As a slightly overweight 40+ male in average health who has no prescriptions, I wonder what the hell the rest of you are so convinced you need to take so much of!
.......... well .... i tried that stuey ..... stopped taking my blood pressure medicine .... ended up in the emergency room ..... terrible headache, couldnt remember my own name .... my blood pressure was 215 .... i ended up in the hospital for three days.... my doctor says i came damn close to having a severe stroke...... so now i take my meds regularly ..... i use to be a stud..... but, now im a stub ......... but alive
Buried in this article is this little nugget of wisdom:
"Reducing the number of medications a patient takes is also good for overall health, Londoño said."
Everyone one of those drugs that get advertised on TV have a list of side effects that sound a lot worse than the symptoms they are trying to alleviate. Big pharma is bad for health
Every time I go to my doctor I get a new med prescribed whether I like it or not. I now have 13, of which I must take 6 (for hypertension and diabetes - its no wonder I have ED
as a forty year old kidney transplant recipient,i am on 11 meds(some twice )daily for the rest of my life.two of them are for high blood pressure.after three years on them,i have had no problems to speak of.
The article just happened to leave off the one probably most guilty - STATINS as they reduce cholesterol levels and cholesterol is needed to make testosterone. LOW testosterone leads to ED, fatigue, anger, depression, muscle weakness and more. The big pharma has been systematically reducing male libido and sperm counts for the last 30 years through their drug pushing. There ARE alternatives out there to the chemicals.
Statins aren't even shown to reduce heart disease, just lower cholesterol. Imagine the revolt there would be to them if men knew they were being prescribed a drug that reduces their testosterone levels.
And isn't it interesting that so many men are put on so many meds that cause or contribute to ED? And then they have Viagra? Big pharm companies are making a killing off us. It seems like they want everybody over 50 on statins. Too bad all us frustrated wives can't get together and sue them for alienation of affection!!!

Erectile dysfunction is nature's response to right-wingers breeding.
Like a swarm of locusts or a deadly disease, they must be contained.
But, Mal'achi .... if he stops taking the drugs then according to the article he will acheive less dysfuntion (and therefore more erections). Right? So, I think you mean he should start taking more drugs?
We should stop looking at pron....BIG risk of porn induced erectile dysfunction...google it.
I will stop looking at pron once I know what it is. What is it?
Who cares?! More men should be erectilely dysfunctional and more functional in other areas of life.

LOL Paul... ya... we'll go with that... hehe
One more story trying to tell us we deserve everything forever. There is a time and place for everything and then you die-some sooner, some later. That is how its alway been and how it will alway be.
This does in no way explain whether the ED is because of sickness or meds. For whom are they writing? Do they expect us to just read and not think?
Nothing new about this - this has been known for decades.
For me, opioids = ED.
My wife's ;mouth works as good as Viagra.
I can confirm that. She was good.
lol .... mark ...... u just made me spit up my dr pepper....
Smoking? It has greatly enhanced my performance

Your turn is coming. You're just the right age.
Just wait until all those wonderful genetic ailments kick in and you won't be quite as flip.

Generally, the more medications you are on, the sicker you are. The sicker you are, the worse your ding-a-ling performs. Seems like a no brainer.
Exactly.
"In some situations, lifestyle changes, such as increases in exercise and changes in diet, could take the place of drugs, the researchers said."
In some cases? This county is more heavily medicated than ever and no one can get wood anymore.
Fat depressed high blood pressure limp dicks need to get some exercise and start eating right before running for the meds.

Carolyn, I can be functional if you allow me.
Every time I go to my doctor I get a new med prescribed whether I like it or not. I now have 13, of which I must take 6 (for hypertension and diabetes - its no wonder I have ED
Try eating right (plant-based foods) and exercise.
How about a prosthesis?

Who the hell takes meds to do that???
Have wife or girlfriend jack it up hard before you start the love making ( her mouth or hand)...been doing it that way for decades..and works great!
Vaseline on sale now at WalMart..50% off if you work for a university or any school system!
I'm getting a hard on just reading this article (more women for me)
Rick Perry and Herman Cain can relate to this story.
Yah, ya think?
The government should ban medicine advertisements on TV. The drug companies are nothing but snake oil peddlers.
A good dream would do it.
They forgot to mention Propecia, which is the active ingredient in hair growth treatments like Rogaine. It'll ruin your pickle.
