This "shortage" is grade A drug company BS. What should happen is our congress should pass a law that says, "If the generic is not available the brand name has to be sold at the generics price." This attention created upside, everyone is trying to make alternatives like ADDieUP which apparently works
Seems to me that this Adderall shortage is a good opportunity for the public to find other alternatives that are legal and not tied up in bureaucratic red tape.
The only reason most children and adults in America get put on one of the most addictive and destructive drugs is because the big pharmaceutical companies can only patent -- and therefore limit competition -- synthetic chemicals like Adderall. And these same corporations have a big influence on what gets taught at medical schools, so you won't hear 99% of MDs suggest you try one of the herbal alternatives that work just as well as Adderall(without the nasty side-effects!) for most people.
This shortage is, I believe a wakeup call for Americans who have been hoodwinked into believing that it is okay to give your children with ADD/ADHD something the local meth freaks would love to have.
There are better alternatives to Adderall that are herbal, contain known brain-nourishing substances that improve memory and cognitive function and cause the ADHD mind to relax. These alternatives let the patient sleep soundly and eat well, unlike Adderall. And they are not addictive.
Maybe this Adderall shortage is a good time to consider the other options we have with solid, well-made OTC products that won't leave us and our kids addicted to hard drugs. And perhaps our medical professionals should consider getting a divorce from the pharmaceutical industry, to keep the focus on what's best for the patient -- not what makes profits for Big Pharma.
