Someone needs to get this memo out to all of the American families now choosing not to vaccinate their own children because 'they just can't see the benefit of it'.
Unfortunately, there isn't any vaccine for silly people.
Which really, if you think about it, explains Texas and perhaps Iowa too.
Pay closer attention to the section titled "Live or Inactivated" for some insight into how WHO computes risk. Either you didn't read the article, or you didn't read it thoughtfully.
No, the United States started with the dead virus vaccine, then switched to the live virus vaccine. I had the Salk injection. My younger siblings had the Sabin oral vaccine.
Not enough credit given to Rotary International, though, for their efforts over more than two decades to eradicate the scourge of polio. The time, effort and money dedicated to the project by Rotary and Rotarians has been enormous and should be better acknowledged during this celebration.
Sweeeeeet! I wish the anti vaccine folks could go see the results of these diseases. The area I live in was hit by a bad polio epidemic the results were devestating. Vaccines don't cause all of these problems that people think they do or wish to blame them on. My nephew was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD at home he's he11 on wheels. At my house its yes mam no mam. I blame it on the parents allowing the child to behave that way. As for autism they are born with it. In 1776 while fighting my ancestor contracted small pox and lived he then contracted cholera and lived. He buried his 2 eldest because of typhoid. My grandmother had scarlet fever which caused a heart condition. I say don't put our kids at risk you have no right. If an individual contracts mumps, measles etc.. they can die and most men become sterile. Good for India!
I'm hardly an expert, but I was under the impression that one of the ADVANTAGES of a live vaccine is that it is indeed alive and can be transmitted from one human to another. That is, just the way poiio is spread from one person to another, so can be the immunity.

What's your point, Zimm?
They should learn how to cure worms.
What great news! One virus down, unfortunately many more still to go.

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
Now only if we can eliminate hunger from the world.
The news is wonderful!

Unfortunately, polio will surely make a comeback here in America due to the increasing number of parents who refuse to get their kids vaccinated.
It's obvious that they have never seen the devastating effects of these diseases.
The anti vaccine crowd take notice, vaccines work.
