I find this very hard to believe and hardly newsworthy. By the time they have gotten to IVF, most women have failed much less invasive methods of trying to conceive. Like plain old sex (!), clomid, insemination....IVF is SO invasive and expensive! As someone who conceived my own children through IVF, I was desperate at that point that ANYTHING work and would have done (and did)whatever my doctor told me to do!!! And most women I have met who have gone through similar circumstances did the same.
The research overlooks that nearly all women seeking IVFs are older and thus infertile. Most of these women were passed up in their earlier years *because* they were drunkards, smokers and "herbalists".
Believe it. I know folks think docs lie about that kind of thing. YOU are the exception to the rule. Amzing how we have become an instant gratification society. Has anyone checked your thyroid panel? I couldn't get pregnant, test after test said I was ok my husband was ok etc... We didn't have money for IVF an ole time doc did my thyroid panel and yup my levels were off. The thyroid controls the hormones needed to sustain a pregnancy. If the hormone is off you won't get pregnant. 2 months later BOOM and I got a lil surprise a year later. Now I have 2 kids and have to take birth control. Once its corrected you will be fertile myrtle. 3 close friends have had the same issue and they all have lovely babies.
Omg. Amazing! I wish I had known when I was battling infertility!! I wonder what they did with all that blood they took from my veins?? How did you get access to my medical records, anyway?
IVF as instant gratification...ummmmmmm, no.
It IS good to know there are people out there like you though, who know it all.
The only thing I didnt cut back was running.. I do not smoke or drink anyway. If its going to happen, its going to happen. My doctor told me there really isnt anything that you can or cannot do to help IVF along...just do the injections properly. Many women run throughout their entire pregnancy. I did IVF 5 times and it didnt work. Looking back I am glad I never had children. I wouldnt be able to do the things that I do now.
So, in Boston they consider exercising once a week isn't cutting back???!!! It is nearly no exercise in my book. Once a week - why bother? And therefore, in Boston they must believe that couch potatoes are more likely to conceive? I doubt that can be supported with facts. Why are so many docs scared of women exercising. What is the theory with IVF - movement cuases the fertilized egg to not attach? Or the egg to not fertilize? Seems completely illogical. On this theory it's a wonder young fertile women who exercise get pregnant at all. Will some qualified doctor clarify what the theory is and whether it is supported by facts or just theory and what theory?
