In all fairness to the Romney bit, he didn't go straight from Cranbrook to Harvard. He went to Stanford for a year...and ended up getting his bachelor's degree from BYU. Harvard was grad school--joint MBA/JD program. Also, unlike many Cranbrook/Kingswood folks, he didn't start at Brookside (elementary school), but attended public elementary schools (granted Bloomfield Hills has excellent public schools). Many many people have their parents help with their first home, especially if they are married young. I don't really think you can hold either thing against him in that regard. Now... the not too much $300K+ in speaking fees and just a general disconnect from the average American...that's a different story. :)
"It is wonderful to be back in Oregon," Obama said. "Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it."

At least none of them said there were 57 states.
