That's good news. I'm a one pill aday Diabetic ll. Didn't know it, until I went for a physical. Before that, I just thought my body reacted backwards. When I felt bad, I would mow the grass and feel better. Didn't realize that mowing lowered my blood sugar level to normal. Everybody should get a check up yearly. Quicker you find out your a diabetic, the better.
If you or a loved one has a wound that does not heal after a month, no matter how small it seems, go to a wound care center for an evaluation. It may be over the objections of your health care professional, but it is your limb at risk. A family member had a very close call with a foot wound that had not healed after 4 months of treatment, and the medical professional who had been treating her decided he needed to see her twice a week instead of once a week. At the wound care center appointment, the physician took one look and said he'd try to save her foot! It took another 6 months of intensive treatment before it was healed up. PLEASE follow all recommendations of the American Diabetes Association and take care of yourself/loved one.
I have a wound that hasnt healed in 3 months but its not my foot its from a shving cut I have adoctors apointment thursday but im betting my doctor sends me to dermatoligist not a wound center hmmm
Diabetes is very serious and no laughing matter. But for some reason I have a strange feeling that this thread is going to be littered with offensive crude attempts at humor.
Diabetes II is a major life style change. Before I could eat rich, delicious foods. Now, I must twist my mind around so I truly believe those rich, sweet, delicious foods are POISON! I only found out I had diabetes because my dentist sent me to get my wisdom teeth pulled. They tested me for blood pressure and sent me to a doctor to get that under control. The doctor came back with a whole new life style for me. Oh well, I've eaten great gourmet foods when I was young, time to suck it up and stay healthy.
I lost a toe just over a year ago. I went to a podiatrist and he strung me along for 8 months, then I went to a wound center for another month. Finally, my foot started swelling up and I ended up in the emergency room. The doctor sent me to a wound center at a different hospital, they did a MRI, and said it had killed the bone, so off it came. If I had went to a competent doctor and not the podiatrist, they would have likely healed it, or took it off without me going on crutches and in a wheel chair for 8 months.
I've had no more problems, but if I do, I'll see a competent doctor immediately, I now know at least two of them.
A little over a year ago I lost all of my toes and the better part of my foot. I have had to change everything in my life and it has been the most difficult thing I have ever done. IT HAS ALSO SAVED MY LIFE. Happy to have a second chance and do much better this time. Diabetes saved my life.
I'm 60 y/o...am not working and have no insurance. I found out 2 years ago I had type II diabetes. I had returned from a 1 month musical gig with my head spinning and I couldn't think straight. I had only recently decided that I needed to stop drinking Diet Coke and start drinking fruit juice. I picked up a bad month to go off Diet Coke. My blood pressure was 185/95 and my blood sugar was 400+. Not good!
I also noticed tinging in my feet with sharp pains shooting up my legs at night. I 1st searched for "herbal remedies for type II diabetes". I studied and picked the following herbs to purchase online: Alpha Lipoic Acid, Bitter Melon, Fennel, Feneugreek, Cinnamon/Gymnema/Mulberry, Fish Oil, & Chromium Picolinate.
These herbs stopped the leg pain. But I did go to a clinic and received Metformin & Glipizide.
After I had done this for a few months, I was in the clinic to get standard blood work. My AC1 was good ! Normal is 6.0. A diabetic could have as much as a 7/0. I had a 5.9. The Dr asked what I was doing. I told him the whole regimen I was going through,. He said 'Whatever you're doing, keep doing it!"
I felt that with a combination of Eastern & Western medicine I was keeping my type II under control. I was told to eat more meat and vegetables....much less carbs and sugars. To be hones, I was so-so on that.
The bottom line for me was the combination of herbs and prescription drugs.

He might be right. A diabetic sore on the face is uncommon. But skin cancer might act similarly, and it's common on the face.

Encourage by that CDS report. Good news
