"The most direct way to reduce excess deaths from a blackout is to try to prevent blackouts," she said.
Anybody want to guess how much of our hard-earned money the feds spent on this research and it's earth-shattering conclusion? It's good to see that nine years after the blackout that a team of researchers at JHU could come to the same conclusion that a chimp could have deduced nine hours after the black out ended. I suppose that these "experts" were able to determine that many people were dead because they were no longer alive. I'll bet that they've petitioned their elected officials to outlaw all blackouts, have anyone that says the word "blackout" be given a stern talking-to and anyone that blacks out from drinking be labeled as a potential terrorist and banned from using any electrical appliance. Once again, science triumphs!
Any place that depends so highly on electric power for EVERYTHING is probably not a safe place to live, anyway. If Las Vegas suddenly lost power, the mayhem would be incredible. NYC is too densely populated to be safe, even with the electricity working.
"The most direct way to reduce excess deaths from a blackout is to try to prevent blackouts," she said. No kidding. How much was spent on gathering this info to come up with this conclusion.

We depend on electricity so much that we can die if we go a day without it. Disgusting
In Texas, the death rate goes down during a blackout because no retards are getting the chair.
Good to hear Old Sparky was out of order when it was your turn...
